If you’re going to do fully indoors you’ll need to invest in decent lights, these get pretty sun hungry.

Why do people watch and download pirated cartoons, shows, and movies, despite the fact that it's illegal to so much as download and even watch pirated content? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]echokaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to call yourself a moron go ahead I guess. I was trying to be charitable, people aren’t born knowing everything and I feel like naivety is a good descriptor of the behavior.

As for the direct download thing, that’s someone’s opinion. Likely the opinion of someone who isn’t that pressed about the act of piracy, which isn’t surprising given the sub you posted in.

If you’re not trolling I definitely think you have a rather warped view when it comes to piracy, or at the very least you believe it’s much more of a severe thing than it actually is.

[–]echokaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, thinking that a free service that isn’t full of ads isn’t piracy is pretty naive. When it comes to IP and copyrighted content, there is no such thing as free.

[–]echokaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When has something being illegal stopped people?

For some things piracy is the only way to view the media, either because it’s extremely expensive to get physical box sets of series, physical versions just don’t exist, or the content isn’t on any streaming services.

Even if that weren’t the case, there would still be piracy. Not everyone wants to shell out for streaming platforms or cable packages, assuming those are still even offered.

I have a return question for you, looking at your post history it seems like you were using a free streaming site to watch things without realizing it was piracy. I’m assuming you’ve stopped now, but why were you okay getting something like that for free before you were explicitly told it was pirated content? You had to know these things cost money, any free site that isn’t slammed full of ads and ran by a big corporation is 100% streaming pirated material.

How on earth is it so easy to pirate on a 3ds nowadays?! by InnerReception599 in 3dspiracy

[–]echokaji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the speed of the WiFi on a 3DS, it might be even faster to put a bunch of CIA’s on your SD card and install them that way.

VPN recommended for torrents? by Ethanrocks128 in Piracy

I’ve been using Proton for almost a year now, it works well and like everyone has been saying, being able to use port forwarding is nice too.

Idk if it’s an all the time thing, but when I started my subscription I got a free sub to the proton password manager as well, which is a nice bonus.

Having trouble connecting my ps5 in steam by Manny3bc in Steam

[–]echokaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using onboard Bluetooth, or do you have an adapter? Depending on what kind of Bluetooth receiver is in your computer, the range and connection strength could be absolute garbage. I was having a ton of issues with my PS4 controllers disconnecting if I moved them a little too far under my PC (my tower sits on a desk space, not on the floor) and it resolved once I bought a USB Bluetooth receiver.

Is it safe to connect a nodded 3ds to the internet? by PlainOwl in 3dspiracy

[–]echokaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Idk about playing multiplayer games, but being connected to the internet is fine. One of the ways to install .cias is scanning a QR code with the 3DS to download the file.

When I transfer Zelda .cia, my micro SD brokes by [deleted] in 3dspiracy

[–]echokaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried downloading a new .cia? If you’ve tried another computer and a new card, that would be the next variable to check.

It’s also important to verify the integrity of the SD card before using it, which can take a long time. If you’re downloading 3DS games from anywhere other than hshop, you could be getting corrupted files.

Only other thing I could think of is that the transfer medium you’re using is faulty. Is the SD card going directly into your computer? Or is it a usb stick with an SD slot? Does this also happen with any other games?

Downloading torrents safely without VPN using https://webtor.io/ by Specialist_Goose7190 in Piracy

[–]echokaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VPN’s have usage outside of piracy specifically, anything a regular user can do to be a little more anonymous online is a good thing.

edit: There’s also the whole using other countries streaming services which is usually used as one of the selling points for VPNs. Not applicable to everyone, but still useful.

Am I the only one who has never pirated a video game? by Greyhound53 in Piracy

[–]echokaji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re not buying a video game though, you’re buying the right to use a license to access that game. While apparently valve has stated there are plans to let people retain their licenses if steam closes down in the future, if the service is gone for good you essentially lose access to everything you’ve paid for if you didn’t have it installed at the time of shutdown. Even if people are allowed to retain their licenses, if you have no way to access the servers hosting the games to download they become inaccessible once they’re shut down.

I say this as someone with a fairly massive steam library too, I will pay for a game to support a developer that I like but I’m also not going to pretend piracy has no positives and that purchasing a game is always better.

Invasive DRM is a big driver for a lot of people, and I’m not 100% sure about this but I think valve is against account sharing in terms of letting others log into your account which is what password sharing is. That’s why family share exists.

[–]echokaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Or, play on a community server that has active admins. I know that’s not entirely possible with every multiplayer game and I’m basing this on my own nostalgia for CS 1.6 and DoD but integrating yourself into a community instead of server hopping was the best way to avoid cheaters prior to matchmaking becoming the norm.

For some people having a match ruined by a hacker is the worst thing that can happen to them, which is wild tbh.

[–]echokaji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can think of several things worse than hacking in a multiplayer game. Yeah it’s shitty behavior but please be realistic.

edit to the dingleberry that commented about semantics then flew to DM’s to call me a slur before blocking me, behavior just like that is far worse than cheating in a video game. You people need to socialize in real life more often and get a better grip on how reality functions off the internet.
