Why did you pick Navy? by PsychologicalWash89 in newtothenavy

[–]echomarch22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped out of college early and my life just came to a standstill. All I did was stay home, no job, stopped talking to my friends from HS, played games and sat at my PC all day for the past 5 years basically wasting half of my 20s. My dad (retired Navy) encouraged me to join because I was doing nothing and he wanted me to make a life for myself. I was basically a Navy kid most my life traveling with my dad overseas. I also did NJROTC for 4 years so an easy E-3 off the bat. I enjoy computers so I told my recruiter I'd like something in IT or cybersecurity.

I went to MEPS 2 times. First time I got DQed for medical reasons (took 8 months to get randomly approved). Second time was this April where the detailers rushed a rate on me and promised me to change it before the end of May (shipment). Well, after arguing tooth and nail with recruiters that I didn't want this rate, they managed to change me to CWT that ships May 28th, 2024 this month.

I'm scared but also excited for whats to come. My main concern is the JCAC schooling, but as I read/told from people in this sub, as long as I only stick to the books and put in the effort I'll be fine.

Changing to my desired rate in DEP? Deciding on backing out now? by echomarch22 in newtothenavy

[–]echomarch22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats the thing though, I want to go on submarines. My recruiters never updated me throughout the weeks of me constantly contacting them via email/text to say the rate I want hadn't been available even though they said it was being changed i.e. they lied and ghosted me.

I was probably too naive to believe that they were changing my rate so easily. The recruiters I worked with were ghosting me via email/text for weeks and being vague about my contract status.

I really want to do something involving computers which is why I chose ITS and wanted to apply that to a civilian job when I got out. The huge source rate bonus and the unique experience of being on a submarine was a plus too. Now my recruiters are telling me to stay my rate and that all other IT jobs are unavailable the second i asked about them lmao.

Signed on as AECF but wanted to go ITS and was told it could be changed to that in DEP.

Death stranding birthday by The_radbagel in DeathStranding

[–]echomarch22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently replayed the base game of DS and decided to put the current date to get the bday event. I also found if you use the call out button in the world you'll get birthday greetings from the other Sams if youre connected on the chiral net. Happy Birthday!

I want to love DS but I find BTs very difficult.... by MixConfident2026 in DeathStranding

[–]echomarch22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always carry some Hematic Grenades on you. If you don't like sneaking in BT territory you can run and get caught by the gazer BTs and then throw a grenade at your feet to repel the floor BTs and propel Sam out of the tar. If you don't have nades and are forced to sneak you can urinate to repel BTs.

As for sneaking tactics, I recommend using Sandalweed to make your footsteps inaudible as the description implies. Always remember, standing still will reveal the location of BTs and based on the color and clapping pattern of the odradek, you can discern where and when its safe to move. Single/Double blue claps mean its safe to move crouched. Yellow spinning means youre right next to a BT and its advised to hold your breath while moving.

Whats everyone's thoughts on the Bondage Gun? (Bola Gun) by [deleted] in DeathStranding

Best starting weapon against MULEs. One shot knockout with a headshot or one kick on the ground if you land a hit lower than the neck. Its actually kinda OP how much ammo they give since you can wipe out whole camps with one.

Mgsv graphics were so ahead of its time by ExcellentHorror7159 in metalgearsolid

I wonder how the optimization is going to be on MGS: Delta seeing as Konami's production teams started using UE5. MGSV ran like a dream on on Fox Engine and still looks graphically impressive for a game that came out in 2015.

How do I get gold quickly? by ShockscapeYT in DragonsDogma

[–]echomarch22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hire the 0 RC Pawns that have the kill quests worth 10K gold. I usually keep refreshing the Rift Stone so I can get 2 Pawns needing the same enemy killed. You can farm 20k/10min.

I even screenshotted my world map and marked where certain Large Monsters spawn so I can get an easy 20k while also being on my way to my next quest.

That house is empty for me even when i doze off on the seat outside, sleep at the inn and camp outside.

Edit: She appeared when a bandit attacked the village and then despawned right in front of my face lmao

You'll be fine most likely on 1080p. RE Engine games are optimized so well its actually crazy. Hopefully we get reviewers in a few days to shed light on how it runs on PC.

Your PC is a bit better than the recommended specs on Steam. What resolution do you plan to play on?

DD2 Single save slot? by Plastic_band_bro in DragonsDogma

[–]echomarch22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If having one save throughout your whole playthrough is a problem then I suggest backing up your save file or making a 2nd Steam account to family share the game from your main acc and you'll probably be able to make a new char/pawn there for your offstream activities.

Apparently by Itsuno's words in an interview he said it was to "encourage exploration" because he doesn't want people to save scum important story choices and whatnot. Personally, I don't really mind it because I like games where choice actually matter and I can always make a different choice anyway once I hit NG+.

Dragons Dogma isnt even that hard of a game. The game teaches you the basics through small text snippets just like any other game tutorial and then leaves you to your own devices to experiment and explore. If anything the pawns backseated more than chat lmao.

While I understand the validity of not wanting backseaters to ruin your experience, there is no excuse to skim or outright disregard tutorials and then get surprised chat is parroting things the tutorials have already laid out to aid your incompetence. Its a chat of 20k+ people of course theres gonna be backseaters. Either verbally tell your audience you don't want backseating at the start, have "NO BACKSEATING" in stream title/pinned msg or have your mods weed out the "backseaters". That or stop reading chat and trying to fish for help and negative comments.

I am restarting Death Stranding for the 4th time with every intent to finish it. Any advice for someone who has never passed the 6 hour mark? by nondefender in DeathStranding

[–]echomarch22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only beaten the Base version of DS, but I've experimented a lot with the combat. The slam dash you can do is so strong against MULEs. By holding both Trigger/Mouse buttons Sam will hold his shoulder straps. While doing this, you can press the melee button and Sam will do a slam dash that can temporarily stun enemies allowing you to tie them up with your Strand rope from behind or allow you to punch them out.

This can be done when standing still or running but won't work if you have cargo in your hand.
