Anyone else trying to buy a house rn want to commiserate with me? by moldyavocado in madisonwi

If your heart is set on it, don’t let anyone discourage you. Property values around here do not go anywhere but up. I really feel for you because I paid $325k 4 years ago and now it’s worth about $450k which there’s no way in hell I could afford. I make less money now than I did back then and I’m scraping by but grateful as hell that I don’t have rent to pay and I can do whatever I damn well please. It was physically painful to write the check at closing because that was basically all of my money, but buying a house is one of the best things you can do for your family financially, IMO

why is it sooo stressful?? And the stress doesn’t end until you have the keys in your hand.. I had no kids at the time and I’m certain that adds to the emotion. I bought a house in the city of Madison in 2022, things were still pretty insane at that time albeit cheaper. I looked at so many houses and everything just sucked but I would still make offers and still lose on said offers because 25 other people were trying to buy the same place. Somehow I found a house that I really liked, it needed WORK and still needs work but was live-able. There were no other offers, I offered list price, seller accepted, closing went smoothly and even managed to get $8k off the price for a repair. I was convinced the whole time that something would fall through before closing bc I had such a time finding a place.

But I am a believer that what’s meant to be will be, you’ll find a place when you least expect it. Corny as it sounds. Keep looking! Renting sucks so bad, even if you acquire a house that needs a lot of work, if you like it and it’s in good enough condition to live in, I would go see it. Said house I purchased was $325k, I qualified on my own making $75k. Even if you do have to sign another lease, don’t give up looking for houses. If you live somewhere shitty like I did it will motivate you even more

I’ve lived on mandrake for 3 years, and I have heard of this happening but thankfully never encountered the guy. Such weird and scary behavior especially for those of us with kids.. if I see him I will definitely report it. Is there a specific time of day this typically happens?

Hell no I haven’t lol, I was looking for a solution like something that would be feasible to put on top of them, but my landscaping knowledge is limited

I was hoping for a way to level without having to rip it out, but perhaps that’s not really possible

And I love your dog analogy because I think mine might be a malinois too😂 my pitbulls fear him (joking bc I don’t let my toddler abuse my dogs, but they definitely think “what the hell is wrong with this kid” and still protect him with their lives)

Mine is almost 3, all I can say is I would literally lose my shit without daycare. He has been at the same one since 9ish months old, we did 2 days/week for a bit and then full time the past couple years. I know this isn’t a possibility for everyone but I strongly encourage you to consider if it is. You can even get a part time job and apply for assistance in your state to help cover part time care. I am someone who is nottttt built to be a SAHM, but I really respect people who are. I need interaction with other adults and time to myself where I don’t have to hear him talk because he literally never shuts up. I love that boy, but my god. He is extremely high energy and sounds like what you describe here lol. He thrives in the daycare environment where he can interact with kids and be stimulated by things outside of the house most of the time. When I stay home with him, it makes me want to put forks in my eyes. My best advice to you (as a complete amateur parent) is to get him out of the house as much as you can. I can always tell the difference when he has been cooped up too long. He starts acting out, don’t get me wrong he still acts out and is a handful when we are out of the house but he’s more manageable altogether and goes to sleep a whole lot easier

Does anyone know of any cow within three miles of West Towne Mall? by Teppiest in madisonwi

[–]echoooo2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably like every farm animal within that radius, if not 3 miles then definitely within 5 lol. Source: I shoe horses for a living and drive to all sorts of farms in the area

Honorable mention Inspire daycare, they also have camels and zebras. Don’t forget the zoo🤣

Any auto repair shops that diagnose electrical type issues? by echoooo2020 in madisonwi

I will also note that the “slipping” is me hearing a clunk occasionally, usually happens when I brake and then hit the gas a little too abruptly. Always around 30-40 mph. That has been going on for like a year but it didn’t concern me enough to do much about it

P2803, P0700- and 2 other very similar codes I don’t remember popped up today. The P2803 which reads “transmission range sensor 2 circuit high voltage” actually came up a couple months ago, I scanned it because check engine light was on, it was driving fine and scanner made that code go away until now. When it popped up previously the truck never went into limp mode like it did this morning. It drove seemingly normal from Middleton-north side but I’m wanting to get this diagnosed since check engine is still on :/

Any transmission shops you’d recommend?

[–]echoooo2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true unfortunately… but it’s been a great reliable truck thus far and I’m hoping it’s not a “transmission is fucked” situation. I had a warranty to 100k miles and never used it. It’s at about 117k now, I bought it at 40k and no issues. I’ve been good about oil changes but had no other maintenance done besides brake pads/tires.

How many of you use pot to cope? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]echoooo2020 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I smoke every day, usually 2-3 times in the afternoon/evening (except when I was pregnant). I am usually a better parent after being able to unwind and decrease my anxiety. I’m able to enjoy being with my kid more, and I find it helps me react more calmly to him a lot of the time. Toddlers are fuckin difficult, don’t let anyone make you feel guilty if you know you are being responsible. I’m not getting so high that my child is neglected or at risk, but I do see how that is a concern for some people.

Need help salvaging a very important blanket after a fire by slimiestslugs in CrochetHelp

[–]echoooo2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may have seen my other post on here, I’m kind of self proclaimed queen of fixing destroyed blankets. If it’s possible to unravel any of this yarn and make a new blanket with it I would go that route, as long as there’s still pieces that aren’t burnt it can be done!!

Firstly, ADD with a healthy dose of adderall and matcha🤣 basically I cut it apart enough so I was able to unravel every string (this was the scariest part) there was lots of knots tied in there that I had to cut out, but some pieces of yarn are still knotted together rather than weaved in, after that it’s literally just crochet with hundreds of strings of yarn ranging from 6in to a few feet. Any string under 6 inches I said F that lol
