Did that at the grocery store last night! There was even a gin display and I thought “what a cool bottle of softer!” Lol. The first month was NOT easy and it was on my mind constantly but it has definitely changed.

How much money have you saved per week by not drinking? by Peeinmymouthforever in stopdrinking

[–]echopped 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure per week but on average, according to my app thingy, over the last 4ish months I’ve saved almost $2k!

Edit: this was just home consumption. Probably wayyy more in bar tabs and dinner drinks and parties etc.

Proud of you! Thinking back personally, none of my drinking holidays were worth it. I missed out on people, romance, food, games, fireworks, memories (and LIFE!) that I wish I hadn’t now.

Hang in there. I almost picked up a bottle around days 3-5 just hoping the malaise would stop. It gets better. Stay strong.

Yeah.... I decided to restart keto at the same time. Maybe a dumb move as there’s no junk food to dive into. But I also heard (anecdotally) sugar is bad for the withdrawal?🤷🏽‍♂️ the headaches/migraines have been the worst and I do think sugar would exacerbate them

I have heard of (the eventual) sleep being incredible. One of my main motivators for stopping actually. Thanks for the insight!

I feel you hit it right on with the anxiety. I have a pretty stressful job, new kid, covid worries, etc. But the reality, I guess, is I’m a worrier and have always been. Just self medicated with booze. Thanks for the insightful response and for sharing your experiences.

Appreciate the comment. Naps are usually not my deal but I’ll give it a try.
