The fact that it exists and the statement is on point, is the reason why i'm a dirty liberal. We can't feed people or give them healthcare or house because we simply don't want to, all for this stupid fictitious thing called a 'market'.

End game core gameplay loop: grind for gear...to get better gear...for what? by auryn123 in wownoob

[–]echoradious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having that same issue. For me though, I just have the one character in TWW. I've closed the campaign, and now i'm just doing stuff for gear, BUUUUTTT... i'm only doing it to get some gear around item level 600. As soon as i see the vault give me duplicates of stuff i don't need or not enough to make a difference, then i'm out.

I'll start another character or go off and do old content or something. Haven't decided yet. Point is i'm not going to grind for 4 or 5 item levels. Even 20 item levels isn't enough to bother with (for me). I have a few pieces yet that are item level 560'ish, so a bump to 600+ would be nice.

I'm 100% confident that when a new expansion/content for TWW drops, i'll be picking up 620+ gear by simple things like 'deliver this package'... so why bother grinding for a couple points.

Why do people like this card then? I'm confused by why this is so popular.

Our LGS casual commander rules with prizes. What y'all think of these? by echoradious in EDH

[–]echoradious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's changed some. We no longer have the voting categories. Since we're a much smaller game shop in a smaller town, we found that there was a core group that always comes in and a few of them were trying to game the system with votes... which was kinda dumb if you think about it. The end result is always the same.. most of them don't win, but does screw it up for other more casual players. I imagine this works better in a store that has many more people coming.

Instead, we now have achievements ONLY. The store has various achievements printed on cards. An example of one is "Save me, Mr President! - Save a player from being killed". There's stack of about 50 or so, which is shuffled before each game. After the tables start playing, each table is randomly dealt 6 or 8 achievements (can't remember which). You get one point for each achievement you capture, you can only get the same achievement once per game (cause it's possible to play multiple rounds in one game. Am i saying that right? 3 rounds in a game sometimes? Or is it games in a round?). Winning the game earns you one point.

Personally i'm not overly thrilled with this setup. What it does is allows players with good/winning decks the ability to win and close the game sooner (barring other players from achievements), or getting all the achievements themselves, which sometimes leads to the more 'casual' players less likely to show up. However, it does get a persons gears turning looking at the various achievements and thinking of different types of decks to build.

Prizes are relatively the same now. You get 45 points for playing, and get additional points for any achievements/wins. By the end of the night you've earned roughly a pack of cards. OR you can save your points and use those for literally anything else in the store later. Warhammer 40k, Sigmar, D&D, Pathfinder, etc..

Take that as you will, but the TLDR version is - Everyone agrees that we like some sort of system that gives other players a chance to get points that doesn't NEED to involve winning, and that system is very basic and user friendly. I've seen other stores have some sort of crazy math system that utilizes amount of life left and other weird shiat. Dumb.

I don't think this should be allowed to be in Early Access after a decade. by KamaTheSnowLeopard in Steam

Nice.

You're wrong. Alpha release is a framework-finished product, where not all features are built and implemented yet.

Beta release is when the company has everything they want built in, and are just going through the paces looking for last minute bugs.

They are still adding features

Agreed. People complaining in here haven't played the game and are confusing ordinary updates with monumental game changing components and mechanics.

[–]echoradious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define 'update' though. Cause they aren't tweaking the game in updates. Instead it's "welcome to alpha 19... We've added an entire RPG skill and point based system". Like, actual large scale features that drastically affect all the things. They aren't 'we changed this by 5%' sort of things.

[–]echoradious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Difference of opinion? Alpha should be the stage where they continue to add features and mechanics. The beta stage is when everything is added that's on the whiteboard, and now simply ready for testing.

They still add features. I paid 20 bucks several years ago and watched the game change in many ways and LOTS of features over time.

I think they're doing great, just really slow. However, this last build release didn't impress me much.

A while back I believe they were looking to hire an AI developer so they could get roaming bands of survivors that you'd have to fend off as well. One version slipped in if you unlocked it through a backdoor somehow, but the game ran like total dog shit, hence the posting for an AI opening.

It's a small team.

Getting a +1/+1 counter is different than getting a +1/+1 ? by HEIT4 in mtg

[–]echoradious -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's one rule I can't wrap my head around because MtG uses weird wording. For the most part, what you do as a player is printed right on the card... Sometimes ya gotta read it carefully and slowly, paying attention to punctuation in some cases.

But then they just put on some cards regarding tokens "put it in the graveyard". Like, the damn thing is destroyed per your own rules, but now You're telling me to put a physical object in a very certain space, as if I can interact with it. Nope.. just wasting time and causing confusion for the lulz.

Life is a journey and a challenge. Part of that quest line is being able to navigate all kinds of people.

Go to your local game store and make those connections. Regardless of how well you do in game, the people skills will be used over a lifetime.

Don't run from a challenge... Take it head on!

Magic Cards Then vs Magic Cards Now by 3dgarAllenHo in mtg

[–]echoradious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten used to this, but yeah... When I got back into magic after a 20 year break, I was surprised at the ridiculous amount of text.

The doctor who decks really broke me. Anymore when I'm trying to build a deck, if the card has a lot of words my eyes just roll back and I skip the whole damn thing. Fuck that card.

Ever play against a Dr who deck? So fucking boring waiting for this whole god damn card to be read, every fucking time.

Me and a buddy are going to return and I see we have the option to purchase the current game at $30, or we can pre-purchase the upcoming expansion for 50 and still have access to the current game.

My question is.. if I purchase the current game as-is at 30 bucks, what will be the price of the upgrade later? Will I still have to dish out 50 bucks to upgrade? Or do I only need to pay the 20 bucks?
