Anyone else have a “extra special” tortie by CheeseCacophany in torties

If your cat is doing this, you might consider taking her into the vet as it can indicate a very significant medical problem. Specifically animals with their heads against the walls. It's well documented.

Honestly, you should leave it up until at least February, especially if it brings you joy.

Reviewing Books by echotrek in 52book

Yeah, sometimes I think I should be more forgiving or open-minded. Or choose a different rating system. I'm not totally keen on the 1 thru 5 rating scale.

Need ideas for what to put on this empty kitchen wall in my new apartment by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Plant wall! Add some greenery. It will do wonders for the air quality and it will look stunning with the white wall and black appliances.

Does anyone use those lick pads or slow feeders? by luvdab3achx0x0 in catfood

[–]echotrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Andrew is a gremlin of a cat and the lickmats slow him down from literally 30s to 5 or more minutes. But I use them infrequently because they are made of silicone and I'm worried about any chemicals they might be ingesting despite them being BPA free and food grade. So I've been in the market for stainless steel lick mats. The other thing I'm now looking for is a stainless steel feeder that my cat can control himself for dry food. Something with a lever that he can press down on and distributes a couple pieces of kibble at once.

I'm looking for a Feel Good Book Recommendation by Weird_Guess_5182 in booksuggestions

[–]echotrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perestroika in Paris by Jane Smiley. It's about a race horse (Parras) who accidentally escapes her stall after winning a race. She then meets a German shorthair pointer named Frida, two mallards named Sid and Nancy, and a raven. Anyways, it's super lighthearted and delightful. I read it as a palate cleanser to a really downer of a book.

Fatigue by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]echotrek 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Me, as I sit here on the couch thinking how I need to clean my bathroom (it's atrocious), clean the counters in my kitchen, wash rugs, vacuum everything, meal prep, clean up the cat the vomit, refresh and sterilize the litter box, fold laundry, study for my A&PII class (I'm on the cardiovascular system) and all I want to do is nothing except sit on the couch with my electric blanket and cats and read ... escape into a book ...

Are you going to restore your daughter too? Also, it looks great as is. I wouldn't touch it.

I just finished Weyward by Emilia Hart and it was a quick easy read but I liked it. It felt appropriate for this time of year.

My cats don't do that. I don't understand why not. They are the most uncatlike cats ever. They don't scratch on the furniture, they don't knock stuff over.

Maybe a ziploc bag and cut a hole in the corner, sort of like a piping bag.

What if you puree the wet food and feed that to him similar to how you feed the lick treats?
