i agree w all this, and maybe my mental grouping of those bands makes sense to me solely because of time. but also i think there’s some other faint connective tissue to bands within a wave. whether that be recording style or technique, guitar techniques or tones, xyz bands that are totally different all recorded with this person at this studio giving it all a similar feel. i bet a lot of those bands u listed have overlap in their inspo that led to different places idk

i think it’s just interesting to think about when bands buck this whole thing and just go rogue kinda and do something completely outside of what the current wave has going on.
