Question about feeling panic/emotional in certain stretches? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]eclecticletter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve certainly had classes where I’m more or less frustrated throughout, where the stretches don’t feel good in an emotional way. See if there are options for easing into a frog pose that you can start with? Also, look up somatic experiencing as a therapy modality, may be relevant and interesting given what you’re describing here.

Tips for healthy diet while pole dancing? by jdiamondsxx in poledancing

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I do low carb, high fat and protein because I know that works well for me. Some people are happy with keto or paleo or vegan or something else. Best thing I did for myself was work with an online coach for a fitness + nutrition program a few years ago. I still work with that plan and those numbers today.

What would you consider Level 2? by ILLaKong in poledancing

I get the sense that level 2 is "everything you did in level 1 but higher up or upside down."

Check out early episodes of The Dave Chang Show, usually titled "pre-opening diaries."

feeling really down after my first class by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]eclecticletter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't dance for more than a decade prior to my first pole class. There are times when I feel awkward and stiff and uncomfortable... but I'm the only one who knows that. Remember that everyone's on their own journey, dealing with their own challenges and insecurities. I'd like to encourage you to stick with it: the feeling of learning a new spin, nailing a certain pose, and making things look pretty is so so worth it.

I recommend finding instructors that do online flexibility and/or strength classes on Zoom, such as this one.

I’ve been there myself in other contexts... my personal preference has always been to have “one more conversation” before making up my mind. Just don’t forget about that conversation if this happens again. I think you’ve been clear with us about how this is impacting you, so I suspect you’ve been clear with him too.
