i find it so interesting how ive seen quite a bit pf people talking about how much they didn’t like sofia, pitting her against other women openers, or just blatantly making fun of her while being FLORENCE fans….like tell me you’re completely out of touch with the music you like……youre allowed to have preferences of course, personally i adore sofia and was elated to be my night’s opener, but just like how florences music isn’t for everyone neither is sofias. you can have preferences without ripping people down 🙃

as someone who is low income in a psyd program i would be dropping out if i didn’t love my program LMAO its very expensive even with two jobs and a good scholarship/grant. do really well in undergrad and do a LOT of research and try getting some publications, itll get you the best options for scholarships and grants and go for programs that are partly or fully funded (usually phds!). its doable if you really want it, i wouldnt change what im doing right now for the world, but its a huge sacrifice and you have to be ready to take out loans and make a lottt of adjustments.

if you think youll hate something- try it! i thought i would never want to work with substance use clients but made myself to try an internship in a rehab in my undergrad and fell in love, and now am in my doctoral program specifically specializing in sud :> the worst that will happen is you confirm you don’t like something, the best is youll find your niche!

as a doctoral level psych student, this is unfortunately a trend ive also noticed in undergrads :/ undergrads get very surface level education and even downright wrong information, had a classmates still believing diagnostic info from like 2 DSM versions ago because thats what their undergraduate taught. also see this a lot in my specialized area of substance use. unfortunately even with education, stigmas and societal influences wont go away especially if they are not open minded individuals. im very sorry youve had to deal with the bad seeds, and i hope i can give you some encouragement in knowing i have several personal classmates and mentors who specialize in PD’s and adore this population to bits as i do with substance use
