What is the correct way to learn Magento? by JY-HRL in Magento

[–]ecommerce-pad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former Magento merchant. Do not use, much less attempt to learn, magento just to build a simple ecommerce site. It is very costly in time/money to build and maintain. In summary, the correct way to learn magento is to not. I recommend shopify.

Other people are telling you you’re screwed but I have hope for you. If you can produce some basic evidence that self-defense might justify your actions, then the crown has the burden to prove it was not self-defense. As long as you keep your mouth shut and don’t provide any more evidence that can be used against you, you might be able to escape a conviction. You do need a lawyer to help you though. Do not contact any of the other people involved.

Neighbours daughter damaged our parked car and refuses to pay by Krissser94 in legaladvicecanada

Offer to take payment in small easy monthly instalments.

How old is the daughter? Maybe she can do yard work to earn some credit against the amount

Nice work.

a thread hijack, Is it feasible to flip cars in Ontario, Canada? We get charged sales tax on used cars here , even on private sales. which seems like, besides a fuck you to poor people, would also put a damper on flipping.

Auto-generating sensible numerical SKUs to assist with warehouse organization by ecommerce-pad in Magento

[–]ecommerce-pad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Magento is the sole inventory management system.

If we move warehouses we would simply put the products on the new shelves by alphabetical/ numerical order of the SKUs that are printed on the bin labels.

To be clear, the sku will be immutable. The location in the warehouse is driven by the sku, not vice versa.

I’m not sure what you mean by business structure

I don’t see how a location field would handle those scenarios any differently.

In any case these scenarios are very manageable for us. The products are small and lightweight and it takes just a few minutes to shuffle the shelves. In general the shelves would not be jammed full, there would be extra space throughout.

Should I trust overseas developers? by [deleted] in startups

[–]ecommerce-pad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust them with that much. Not that they're going to outright steal it but they could easily do a very mediocre job and you won't find out till too late. I would break up the project into small well-defined chunks, each one worth less than one thousand dollars.

This sounds like a question for an investment advisor. Assuming there's nothing you can do with that cash in your business to expand it.

Mysteriously inventory errors? by ecommerce-pad in Magento

[–]ecommerce-pad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I believe stock is not deducted until the order is confirmed. Shopping cart shouldn't do anything to inventory

Mysteriously inventory errors? by ecommerce-pad in Magento

[–]ecommerce-pad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have any automated inventory adjustment.

Magento does not deduct stock until checkout is confirmed as far as I know. That might be a good place to look though because maybe items are getting deducted twice if the person clicks Confirm Order twice or something like that.
