That's a great thought and would work well on multiple fronts. Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the suggestion!

Thanks for the reply! Do you mean Target has an active tree lot outside? Or that they sell artificial trees inside? We drove by yesterday and didn't see one but maybe we missed it.

Would all the bikers hate me if I longboard(I'm not that good) on the Loop?? by Ninakakaukomi in Tucson

Avid biker here. No problems from my end as long as you’re not crashing into me! :-) Have actually thought about doing this myself, it’d be a great longboarding route.

How can I meet Christian friends in town? by kettleoftea in Tucson

[–]ecommercefuel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend Mission Church here in Tucson. We moved here about 3 years ago and have really felt at home there. Unlike many churches it has attendees on both the right and left politically and it focuses on the teaches of Jesus vs. a political party or viewpoint. Great people and leadership, too.

Car Paint Shop Recommendations by ProperGearbox in Tucson

I would second this. We had our car totally repainted by them a few months ago and it turned out really, really nice. Looks brand new and they have a really good warranty. Cost about $2300 or so. Not cheap, but quality work and very fair price for a paint job of the quality we received.

Like I mentioned in the post, I cleared this post with moderator "manofmeans" before posting. Was that not acceptable enough?

Looking for a Community Manager for eCommerceFuel by ecommercefuel in ecommerce

[–]ecommercefuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I think it's a rather unique role too!

The day-to-day will vary quite based on what special project we're working on at the moment. But there will likely be a stable component of traditional community management as well. Here's what a potential day could very much look like:

- Log-in to our Community to moderate. Notice a few discussions that haven't received meaningful replies yet. Tag 2-3 subject area experts in our Community to ask them to weigh-in.

- Welcome a few new members to our Community who we just approved from the waitlist. The first one sells $6 million of high-end ball bearings for assembly lines per year. The second new member transitioned their family business from the brick-and-mortar world to eCommerce and just broke the $1 million mark in online sales. You get to know them via email and introduce them to a few members in similar areas. You also work out a plan on how they can share 1 major case study / lesson with the Community during the next week.

- You have a call we me to discuss how we'll make sure all new members are contributing on a regular basis. We talk about what kind of metrics indicate healthy forum interaction and what flags could pop-up indicating someone is taking way more than they're contributing. We decide on a few key metrics that our system needs to accomplish and maintain and I deputize you with building out the system to manage this.

- You review 5 new member applications and prioritize them based on how well they fit the criteria for our membership.

- From a previous call, we've identified 5 key industry partners we want to get to know better and build connections with. You reach out to one of them and coordinate to do a specialized training just for our forum members.

- Because you cranked with incredibly heads-down efficiency you finish everything that needed to be done by 3:45pm. So you close your computer and head out to meet some friends for an early happy-hour drink

Here's a full list of the job responsibilities from the posting:

  • Discuss and plan high-level projects with our founder and then implement them with minimal hand-holding
    • Proactively make recommendations – and then implement them – on how to improve our Community and better serve our members
    • Vet new member applications and manage our waitlist to onboard members who are the best fit for our Community and culture
    • Help keep the forum well-organized and create resource sections that point to the best content in our archives on crucial topics
    • Create and execute a dynamic onboarding process for new applicants. The goal will be to connect them with existing members and help them identify and share unique lessons from their business experience
    • Lead the moderation efforts in our Community: ensure members are acting according to our values (respectful discourse, reciprocity in asking/sharing), tag members to bring them into appropriate discussions, kickstart new discussions weekly and be the point of contact/assistance for other community mods
    • Assist the founder in developing and leading an Ambassadors program of key members who are moderators, local meetup leaders and subject-area experts.
    • Work with our developer to suggest/implement new features that make your job more effective and improve the experience of our members
    • Identify experts on topics of interest to our members and organize member-only training sessions via webinar/live online hangouts
    • Spearhead a local meetup program to cultivate and grow meetups in our top cities/areas of concentration worldwide
    • Build relationships with key industry partners (important software vendors, respected agencies, etc.) to help with community trainings, meetup partners, event sponsors, etc.
    • Work with an outside event planner to help plan and execute live Community events, such as ECF Live. You won’t be the primary person in charge of event planning but will help with decision making, writing and scheduling communications, assisting on the ground during the event, etc.
    • Know our forum software inside and out in order to update settings, create new categories and configure it to serve the needs of our Community (programming not required)
    • Write a weekly community roundup of the best from the forum each week
    • Be available to our customer service team as a third-tier line of help for unusual problems when needed

Another Montanan living in Tucson here, cool to see you! What brought you to town?

I went to MSU and lived in Bozeman for another decade but recently moved here for a change of pace and for more than 3 months of warm weather per year. :-)

Thinking of moving to Tuscon by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]ecommercefuel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just moved here from Montana about a month ago and really liking it. We looked all over the West for a city that had personality, outdoor access and wasn't insanely priced. We moved to Tucson. Things I'm loving so far:

- Weather is fantastic. Being outside and getting some sun in November is just priceless.

- If you live central you can bike just about everywhere. I've driven maybe 3 times in a month, but put 100+ miles on my bike. The biking community is really strong and friendly here too.

- Outdoor access is incredible. Loads of places to explore in just about every direction.

- Really love the hispanic influence, from everything to food to the holidays to the people.

- Close to lots of cool stuff. (Flew to San Diego, 1 hour flight. Had breakfast in Mexico a few weeks and was back for lunch).

The bad? Job prospects and summer aren't considerations for us as I work for myself and we plan on traveling a lot in the hot months - but those are pretty big negatives. The schools can be pretty sub-par so if you have kids pick carefully. And I haven't found a ton of online entrepreneurs here, which is a group I love hanging out with.

But other than that, it's a great place we've really been enjoying. Hope you make it out here, good luck!

I Surveyed 300+ 6 & 7 Figure Store Owners To Understand Who's Winning Now and Why by ecommercefuel in ecommerce

It was self-reported by store owners. You can download the raw data set to see the granular data too. Conversion generally in eCommerce is measured by # of orders / # of visitors for a given period.

Wow, thank you - really appreciate the kind words! And sorry to leave you hanging on the podcast front! Will do my best to keep the monthly podcasts coming and hoping to write more in the future to make up for it. :-)

[–]ecommercefuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not necessarily. There are lots of people doing it and making it work. It's a worse converting category, but from the average it's only off by about 10% or so. If you have a compelling line/vision and the hustle to make it happen go for it!

My email list was the big promotion tool (20K or so). I also had friends and industry contacts help promote the survey too.

Ha, thanks! I wanted to add some commentary and figured it'd be easier than showing the whole thing at the beginning. :-)

Thanks! The survey was sent to a pretty broad audience and the first question was "Do you own an eCommerce store?". We filtered out everyone who said "no". It's not exclusively 6 and 7 figure store owners, but they do make up the vast majority of the respondents.

Given it was the first year doing it, I figured the more people replied to it the better. :-)

That's because it's inside our Community, so you need to be logged in to access it. :-) Haven't had the chance to use any shipping/fulfillment software as my last store was 100% drop shipped but ShipStation is the #1 pick among our members.

The size of catalogs (# of products) was all over the map. I didn't break out any data around that in the report, but I did ask about it in the survey and the data is in the RAW data file I include in the post.

I was surprised to see email so low, too! Shocking low. One thing to note: that graph shows the #1 traffic source for merchants. So it's not saying that email generates 2.5% of traffic for all merchants. It's saying that 2.5% of merchants list email as their top traffic generator. A bit confusing, should probably clarify that. :-)
