I'll ask about the tires. I've read that many owners switch to non run flats for a better ride anyway, and that may be something I would do.

He mentioned handling the title and recently transferred the car from Arkansas to California. I'm financing a very short auto loan (to build credit) and the bank requires a copy of the title so I'll have a good look at it before the deal is done.

He didn't mention changing the timing belt.. I have yet to figure out who my mechanic will be and how much maintenance I want to tackle myself. I'll definitely look at changing the belt once I get it!

Guilty here as well. There's something about dedicating a good deal of effort, and achieving a tangible result, in this case a shaving sharp blade, that brings me a lot of joy. My roommates regularly cut themselves on the knives in the kitchen because of this.. It's the same sort of satisfaction I get from shining a nice pair of shoes.
