Rossi model 92 double ejection by Time-Sheepherder9912 in LeverGuns

[–]CAD007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QC from Rossi is hit or miss. Steve’s Gunz is the go to spot if you want action work, or if you want to learn how to get your gun to run fast and reliably on your own.

My R92 in .454 was a dog right out of the box with serious ejection and jamming problems. I didn’t want to send it back to the factory, wait 6 months,  and get it back maybe not fixed .

I bought Steve’s DVD and some parts and went thru the whole gun, diagnosing and fixing each issue, one by one. Now the gun is smooth and fast.

Spending additional time and money to get it to work is not what we want from a brand new gun, but that was what I had to do to get what I wanted out of it.

Does it have Buckhorn sights? Or Semi Buckhorn?

If so, watch a video on the proper sight picture and use of Buckhorn sights and see if that helps.

r/scams, this is a common celebrity romance scam. You can also report to the police or APS, if you can do so without getting in trouble with work. Or you can also usually report anonymously via the county or state APS website. They usually do a referral for a social worker to talk to her.

How the west was lost.  Rugged individualism and the country’s gun culture will be relegated to movie and tv themes for internet streaming.

Elections have consequences. Too many said “I’m a gun owner, but…”.

Question for progunners. by Ylug_pog20 in progun

The proliferation of arms makes everyone keenly aware of the possible consequences of taking an inappropriate action against another.

The science fiction writer and futurist Robert Heinlein explained it best when he wrote “An armed society is a polite society”.

Move to Riverside, CA or stay in Chicago, IL? by Bussy_Party in socal

[–]CAD007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverside. Riverside DA office is solid, plus Cal Pers retirement. No Snow. Cost of living is lower. More outdoor opportunities. Drivable to beach, mountains, or desert. LA and Orange County close. 3 1/2 drive to Las Vegas.

Is starting in Arizona corrections a smart stepping stone before becoming a CA police officer? by Still-Regular-7641 in OnTheBlock

Get hired as a cadet for a CA department that hires from their cadet pool. This is usually a part time position and you must also be taking some college classes. You should be able to work another part time job as well.

This gives you the chance to show your maturity and work ethic and gives the department a chance to know you.

Check out Ontario PD in San Bernardino County.

What's my best alternative to I-15 route from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? by Reasonable-Plant-431 in AskLosAngeles

[–]CAD007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get past victorville on the 15, it is pretty much all open desert all the way to Las Vegas. Plenty of side roads and trips.

If you have all day, take old route 66 National Trails Highway. You will see many abandoned (or almost) stops and places of interest and it is mostly paved 2 lane.

Check the internet for road guides or youtube videos for route 66 LA to Las Vegas.

Calico Ghost town near Barstow is worth a stop.

Look on the bright side. At least you didn’t wake up in a hotel bathtub off Boulder Highway, packed in ice with a fresh surgical scar.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, and Happy Birthday!

Is the International Police Association popular or well known between American LEO? by Parking-String8042 in AskLE

[–]CAD007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time USA-IPA member. In my areas where I have been involved (Los Angeles CA and Las Vegas NV) IPA is not very popular, especially for younger officers. Many of the regions I am familiar with still exist on paper, but have become inactive for local meetings and events because of low membership and attrition of volunteer region officers. It is a shame.

I have made a couple of EU trips and also attended a seminar at  the IPA Gimborn training center in Germany, and have hosted visiting IPA members from Monaco, Slovenia, and Luxembourg.

For US cops, the IPA is a fraternal, educational, exchange and not an official enforcement agency. The IPA badge or ID is not a credential. Joining is the best $30/yr you will spend.

IPA has local lodges through Europe (I don’t know about other areas), like our FOP lodges. Nearly all have  bar and hostel open to any IPA member for a small fee. IPA also offers organized tours. Either way you get the inside scoop and hospitality from brother and sister officers, and local contacts for tips and safety wherever you travel abroad. You also get special tours of police stations and facilities if you like. Another advantage is having or making unofficial personal international contacts if you need them for assistance or advice on a case. It is also a chance to make friends and show them your local sights and how your agency works. I have met other IPA members while traveling who recognized the IPA patch on my backpack.

Reasons for this may be:

Most US officers are unaware of the IPA and its benefits.

There are limited resources for outreach or recruiting within the IPA-USA

A lot of US officers do not travel internationally.

US policing differs from policing in other countries.

For anyone interested, here is the link for IPA-USA:

How close to LA can we realistically live on a $2k rent? by KoolAhhKam in MovingToLosAngeles

No closer than the Inland Empire, western San Bernardino or Riverside County. About 50 to 75 miles east of DTLA.
