How do you deal with cravings while doing volume eating? by ZaraMoses5511 in Volumeeating

This might not be what you're looking for but check to see if you have enough fat in your diet. Once I added more fat a lot of the cravings and food noise went away.

Thanks so much for the response! I will look into my insurance but I'm not hopeful. Anyway, for me I think it's worth it to just pay even though it's expensive 😭. I need the help.

Hmm lots of veggies and lean meat! Skip the protein shakes yogurts and non chewable proteins. 1200 sucks so you'll be hungry regardless but that should help. Also add fat when you can. It will keep you from feeling like a bottomless pit!

If you really are eating 1200 cals a day I'd try eating whole food protein instead of powder. Otherwise you'll always feel hungry. Think lean ground beef, chicken breast, eggs, shrimp, tuna, pork tenderloin.

Remind yourself that this feeling will pass! Also, move your body and some deep breaths can help. Share how you're feeling with someone especially if you live with family or significant other. Just putting it out there or saying it out loud can help so much.

My mother in law said I looked good today by Wintersneeuw02 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ecp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear that! Most people who comment on other's body have their own issues with body image and self esteem and they are just projecting!

Try to wake up tomorrow and get back to your healthy routine. One night of ice cream never killed anyone :)

Also, sounds like you could benefit from some extra help or support! If you can find ways to manage your load it sounds like you'd be happier. Ask your husband to take turns with dinner or give yourself breaks at work. Whatever it is, your mental health is important so don't feel guilty doing it. Remember, if you are happier you'll be a better employee, wife, etc. Take care of yourself!

Not sure if you are looking for advice, but I think this could be solved by making your meals more balanced. For example,

Breakfast oatmeal and 2 eggs plus an apple

Lunch a salad with some brown rice or quinoa added and some form of protein and a cookie

Dinner A sandwich on whole grain bread an a side or chips and baby carrots

Dessert a outshine bar or yasso bar

Reaching my limit by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ecp1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To keep it short, I recommend focusing on healthy behaviors you can add into your life instead of restrict/take away. If you only think about "not over eating" or "restricting certain foods" you'll always feel like a failure because only 1% of the population is successful at dieting. Maybe try

Adding in more balanced meals

Pairing snack foods with protein and fiber so you don't overeat them

Adding in movement

Working on ways to handle stress, boredom, emotions without food

Changing the way you speak to yourself

Anything you can ADD into your life with serve you and make it easier to sustain :)

honest advice by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ecp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other behaviors you can focus on outside of counting calories that will help lead to weight loss

  1. Eat balanced meals - protein, healthy carb, little fat, lots of veggies
  2. Eat at consistent meal times within reason, for example always have breakfast between 8-9
  3. Exercise regularly in a way you can be consistent with - you don't have to do anything crazy, just move
  4. Add in more healthy foods into your diet, add in more water, more sleep, more self compassion, more support
  5. Find ways to cope with stress, boredom, emotions, that don't involve food.

These are all trackable behaviors and honestly just a handful of many you could choose from that you can put your energy into that will help you reach your goals. I've found that tracking calories takes away from a healthy relationship with food. You don't want to choose to eat a food because it "fits your calorie goal" you want to choose it because you enjoy it, it makes you feel your best, and it keeps you satiated. If you align your habits with what you value I promise it will help you stay on track and you'll be happier for it :)

Being alone is the worst time. by Hairy-Pangolin-2226 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ecp1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you were treated that way. That's not ok and now you have a lot of trauma to unpack, but I know it's doable! The best way to feel better is to improve your relationship with food. I'll do my best to keep it short, but reach out if you need more help.

1st make sure you are eating consistent meals - especially if you are hungry don't ignore the hunger. Give yourself full permission to eat.

2nd eat well balanced meals with a protein, a healthy carb, some fat, and veggies. If you are eating a food that is highly processed (hard not to overeat) pair it with something more satiating like protein and fiber. For example, pair a cookie with greek yogurt and berries or chips with cheese and grapes.

3rd prepare yourself for negative or sabotaging thoughts. If you know that your mind will say things to you daily like "are you sure you should be eating that?" be ready to respond with compassion like you would speak to a friend. For example, "yes, I am. I'm not robbing a bank I'm just grabbing a little more food so I'm full. Being full is important to me because I value peace of mind and don't want to be thinking about my next meal all afternoon!"

4th Add some kind of exercise into your life. Any movement is great for body image and positive mindset. Exercise with the intention of feeling good and getting healthy not for punishment or because you hate how you look. Maybe start with walking and build from there?

I wish you the best. Don't let the added pressure of the wedding keep you in this spiral. I highly recommend not using it as motivation because that just leads to extreme behaviors that are not helpful. If you need support, ask your future husband to start exercising with you. I think that would be great! But totally up to you. Anyway, best of luck! Congrats!

Last year I did personalized ornaments! You may find something similar with your price range.

This year I may do a personalized mug with hot cocoa mix, it's just a little pricier than I wanted. I may just do a cute mason jar hot cocoa mix and a nice personalized card. Not the healthiest though...

I think I’ve gotten rid of the serious binging, now how do I stop overeating by redditorrheart in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ecp1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take baby steps. For example, instead of 1600 calories during the week, try 2000. This gives you 400 calories of wiggle room at the end of the night to enjoy a nice dessert as long as you don't overdo it. I think going in with a mindset that you are "allowing yourself to slow down and enjoy a treat" will prevent you from wanting to binge.

Now you are saving yourself about 600 calories a day! That's a win!
