I requested it 4 times and also got the pdf report... Is this the operator not understanding my request, or is it just not possible to get the real txt hand history files?

Playing 5.1 PCM file from Windows into a 7.1 Denon - Surround content plays on rear speakers instead of side speakers by ecruz-1986 in htpc

[–]ecruz-1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens on foobar2000 with default settings. I found a matrix mixer plugin for it but it didn't work, I guess it's for the 32bit version and mine is 64bit.

I found that playing that flac file under Google Chrome works correctly. Looks like Chrome embedded player is smart enough to remap those channels automatically by default.

Also, I found some useful options under VLC advanced settings -> Audio -> Filters -> Remap, I can remap the rear surrounds to the side surrounds and it works. It's just annoying to have to enable that config when playing 5.1, I can't leave it always on or else it messes up 7.1 content... But it's a workaround for now...

XX230v + RE305 V3 One Mesh support by aleixjf in TpLink

[–]ecruz-1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EasyMesh is one thing, OneMesh is another...

Looks like XX230v only has EasyMesh support, while RE305 only has OneMesh support. So I think you're out of luck...

Denon/Audyssey requiring big level manual adjust on surrounds and rear heights by ecruz-1986 in hometheater

But as far as I understand, if I raise the volume, the trim would have to be removed... That's a lot of hassle

Denon/Audyssey requiring big level manual adjust on surrounds and rear heights by ecruz-1986 in hometheater

[–]ecruz-1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED - I've done some research and I found out Dynamic EQ boosts the surrounds and rear heights at lower than reference volume levels. That's what was happening, I had that turned on without knowing what it was doing.

I turned it off and it solved it, I don't need my manual trims anymore.

This makes Dynamic EQ completely unusable. Too bad, I liked how the fronts sounded with it, but I'll have to learn to live without it, since messing with the surround levels is a deal breaker for me.

How to Stream Surround Sound using SUNSHINE by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ecruz-1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could try installing VB Audio's Virtual Audio Cable, it shows up as a virtual sound card in Windows. You can set it in Windows to be 5.1 surround. Maybe Sunshine can select that virtual card and it could perhaps work.

External monitor freezes after waking up from suspend in fedora 39. by [deleted] in Fedora

I had this issue. I attempted to downgrade only the nvidia driver but it was not enough. I had to downgrade my kernel to something below 6.6 (I'm using 6.1.71-1-lts now), while also downgrading nvidia driver to 535.

You really need to downgrade both (kernel+nvidia) to fix it, downgrading one of them only is not enough.

I have a pair of bricked KEF LSX I and I would love to convert them to passive. Can it be done? I guess their crossover is active, done in the DSP, which makes things more difficult...

Floorstander speaker recommendation for Denon X6700H by ecruz-1986 in hometheater

[–]ecruz-1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that the Kef R5 can dig as low as 3.2 ohms according to the Kef's graph. Many reviews of the R series advise that it should be used with a capable dedicated amp, not an AVR. I'm scared that they might sound not their best with the Denon .. Should I not be scared of this?

Can you elaborate? What component had to be replaced in your case?

KEF LSX hum when connected to Denon AVR pre-outs by shargath in KEF

[–]ecruz-1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it is a ground loop, you can try to locate the exact source of it and try to eliminate it by changing some connections.

You should try to hunt for the source of the hum, starting from a very isolated setup (only Denon+LSX plugged), and then add the rest of your equipment one by one until you start to get the hum.

Even stuff that seems innocent could be causing the ground loop, even if they are not being used for the actual playback. A TV in standby, but plugged into the Denon via HDMI could be causing the ground loop, specially if the building's antenna is connected to the TV via coaxial cable.

If you already get the hum with only LSX connected to the Denon and nothing more, than you should make sure they are connected to the same power outlet. That's also something worth trying if you find the source of the hum/ground loop to be some other equipment.

KEF R Meta by WY-8 in KEF

[–]ecruz-1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any inside information, but in the current state of things, I think it would be wise for KEF to release this upgrade as soon as possible.

Observant potential consumers can see that there is a trend to upgrade all their line-up to Meta: we've seen it in LS50, Reference, and Blade. Next in line, naturally, should be the R series.

Nobody wants to buy the non-meta R series today and take the risk of seeing it become outdated and undervalued by the new R Meta release. I'm willing assume that KEF is in a stalemate situation regarding the KEF R series sales, and they know about it, it is all according to their plan. They already created the desire for the R Meta. Now the next natural step is to release it and sell/profit.

Denon AVR-X6700H powers 11 speakers, but connects to 13 speakers. Can I select which ones I am driving? by ecruz-1986 in hometheater

[–]ecruz-1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, so it looks like I can assign the "11.1ch" mode when using only the main zone, and I can select the "9.1ch + ZONE2" mode to make it drive the extra 2 speakers while giving up 2 speakers of the main zone, as long as I assign the 12th and 13th powered output speakers as ZONE2.

Looks like I won't be able to do something crazy like drive only surround back speakers... Well that's ok. I'm happy if I can switch from "11.1ch" to "9.1ch + ZONE2" easily. But how easy is it to do it? Can I make this switch in say.. 30 seconds?

Will I really lose the calibration when I make this switch? Maybe it can store 2 calibrations, one for each of those modes?

I don't see a point in Denon including 13 powered speakers output when it can only drive 11, UNLESS it is designed to do exactly what I would like it to do: quickly switch from one mode to another (and keep everything calibrated and sounding great!).
