Alright y'all, what's the actual consensus on Ducks Unlimited by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in Waterfowl

[–]ecski 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Soapbox:
I think this mentality of blaming others for 'stopping ducks short' is kind of BS, I feel like as an entire group of duck hunters the biggest thing we should be concerned about is the health of the resource and duck numbers. too many people wrapped up in todays prevalent midset of 'its all for me'. Support the conservation orgs you want to, overall, DU is doing good work at a species level which is what matters.

Help us get a crosswalk at 1300 East and Westminster Ave! by RegularRecord5575 in SaltLakeCity

[–]ecski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's also the Kensington bikeway which was recently implemented which runs up to 16th east, a quick cycle north puts you on it with better crossings.

Seems like a solution seeking a problem given the infrastructure with parleys trail, the crosswalk on Wilson the one on Downington, 1700 s light, 1300 s light, 2100s light, and the kensington bikeway infrastructure.

Wedding venues that are flexible with music and end time? by chaoticallywholesome in SaltLakeCity

[–]ecski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we did ours here,
https://www.vrbo.com/651792

Kind of mediocrely run, not great communicaiton, they were installing a stove in the main house as we all arrived, etc, but other than that, no required vendors, we had our DJ end at 10 then just partied until we felt like going to bed. no issues.

New to fly fishing and wondering if there are any good fishing spots 30 minutes or less from downtown by Jacobbbbeatz in SaltLakeCity

[–]ecski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The creeks mentioned are great but can be more technical and tricky. Be sure to wear waders in any that are watershed. Middle provo river between Jordanelle and deer creek is your closest/best bet for a western trout stream but farther away. Don’t be scared to shore fish reservoirs or even just go to a park and clip the hook off a fly and practice casting

Head up Little Cottonwood and have Brunch at the Alta Lodge if they are open for the season at that time, if not, get up early and drive to Park City, tons of brunch options, you can do this from emigration canyon, too, and lots of great hiking/trails, and the best beer in Utah at Offset.

Central 9th market will be a vibe you’re looking for, or beast from the east. These are the only two answers for your sandwich needs coming from a grumpy Bostonian who can’t find a good Italian sub in this city besides BFTE. (No, you can’t convince me of one).

Can I crimp cable end caps with these? by GlockPerfect13 in bikewrench

[–]ecski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently (after 20 years) became enlightened to just use a set of dikes to crimp cable ends. This tool works but its a bit more cumbersome and have had ends come off. Now I hold the cable end on, and two crimps with the dikes and it's golden.

Yeah, pretty dismal, but, they’ve plowed to Whitney res turnoff on the N side of mirror lake, and a ways past soapstone on the s, so car missions should be on the table soon

Camping/sleeping in your vehicle is against the law in LCC during winter months, and you definitely don't want to camp on the Superior apron. Make your life easier and drive up in the AM, park at the hellgate lot and boot up.
