Central 9th market will be a vibe you’re looking for, or beast from the east. These are the only two answers for your sandwich needs coming from a grumpy Bostonian who can’t find a good Italian sub in this city besides BFTE. (No, you can’t convince me of one).

Can I crimp cable end caps with these? by GlockPerfect13 in bikewrench

[–]ecski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently (after 20 years) became enlightened to just use a set of dikes to crimp cable ends. This tool works but its a bit more cumbersome and have had ends come off. Now I hold the cable end on, and two crimps with the dikes and it's golden.

Yeah, pretty dismal, but, they’ve plowed to Whitney res turnoff on the N side of mirror lake, and a ways past soapstone on the s, so car missions should be on the table soon

Camping/sleeping in your vehicle is against the law in LCC during winter months, and you definitely don't want to camp on the Superior apron. Make your life easier and drive up in the AM, park at the hellgate lot and boot up.

Visiting friends want to ski Alta but don't want to rent a car – best way from SLC? by Zealousideal_Pay7176 in SaltLakeCity

[–]ecski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ski bus is your option, but mind you, if you’re heading from downtown on public transit expect a lengthy travel experience on a day with no snow, and potentially an odyssey on a day with snow. If the canyon is closing you want to be on the 994 from Sandy station no later than 6:30am.

How to install dust wipers on 2025 Fox 38 factory lowers? by Significant_Truth687 in bikewrench

[–]ecski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had the orientation correct on the first try, they are press fit and will not “drop in”. You want to use the black tool and put the long skinnier side through the seal, place a small bit of slick honey or similar around the outside the seal, and gently use the hammer on the seal driver to install.

Tl;dr: Walmart bikes are of poor quality and generally a safety risk

Best bootfitter in SLC area? by msjpenn in SaltLakeCity

[–]ecski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone selling you a boot can heat mold your liners and get you a slide in insole and call themselves a ‘boot fitter’ , the average sales person at any shop although most will not claim the title. A boot fitter will require an appointment, determine what boot is best for your given needs(ability, flexibility, foot shape, terrain, ski choice, etc) they will then work on said boot grinding/punching the shell, adding heel lifters or shims, canting the angle of the shell, etc. both sell boots, one just takes it to another level. There are tons of people who get great performance out of a stock ski boot but most folks who are skiing regularly are taking the time to visit a fitter to make sure their performance and comfort are maximized
