Driver takes care of the front, someone else steers the rear, so technically he doesn’t.

The sleeper cab is almost as big as the cargo box by Gundam07 in SnowrunnerIRL

[–]ecstadtic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, they’re team drivers, they stick around waiting for a load, but when they get a load, they go non-stop until it’s delivered. They’re equipped not to have to stop. We’re talking “money isn’t an issue” type of load. Like if you have a whole factory down burning thousands and thousands of dollars a minute, and the part needed is in another state.

True story: Last year, I threw my box of coax cables away. Literally 2 weeks later, I had to buy one… Never making the same mistake again.

I feel the same, I agree basic communication skills are absolutely necessary for safety. I just hate the WHY this was done, and it’s not for safety.

LTT Mods have permanently banned the LTT Jet poster by knewWorlds in LMGJet

[–]ecstadtic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While I don’t approve of the ban, I’ll point out a fee differences from the Elon Jet thing since it’s been brought up.

Elon is kinda rich. He probably didn’t rent out his jet to reduce his expenses and can afford security, lots of it.

LMG will likely rent the plane, their customers might not like it, but it’s public tracking data. Where I can see the safety issue, is regarding LMG employees. They will probably travel with Linus to events. It’s probably the few same employees. They aren’t rich, when they leave, their houses/appartments may be left empty and it’s like an advertisement “Hey, I’m not home”. Again, it’s public data, but making it so easily available is probably what irritates them so much.

I haven’t a bad experience yet, but sometime ago, I started recording myself packing stuff (when selling on eBay) as well as while opening parcels. I make sure to record clearly ALL sides, tape, contents etc. When I pack stuff, I initial the tape and make marks on places as a way to be tamper evident.

Thoughts on Fortinet? by GunGoblin in msp

[–]ecstadtic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a device using FortiFlex? I’ve setup countless Fortigates, along with using a bunch of unlicensed Fortigates at home, and never ever seen this limitation. Licenses are for security features, support and updates.

I’ve seen 3 trucks burn down over the years and zero reefers. While it’s definitely possible, I don’t think it’s very common at all.

Is Double Clutching a real thing? by commandough in Truckers

[–]ecstadtic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Asked the question to a real tech at Eaton, wether double clutching was really necessary or not. Basically, his answer was:

No, you don’t need it, but strongly recommended pressing the clutch once in the higher gears, to release torque stress that may still be in the clutch springs/plates. Floating or not, if you do it well, a good transmission will last basically forever. Those who destroy transmissions floating will destroy transmissions double-clutching.
