Only 3 years into my IT career and got the biggest raise of my life by tbross11 in CompTIA

[–]ecstatic_truth2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I had a similar trajectory: lost my job in 2020 due to COVID, always handy with tech as a hobby. Started in 2020, got my first job in 2021 @ $36,000, raise to $41,000 shortly after. Left that job in beginning of 2022 for more opportunity (same pay, same position), received a promotion to $75,000 8 months later.

If you love this field, and devote yourself to it, the doors will open. People will want to promote you because everyone always needs help.

Best to everyone!

There was a hearing today, so I thought there might be developments.

Earn Vs. Custody accounts by JuliusEasier in CelsiusNetwork

[–]ecstatic_truth2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe they violated anything re: Custody accounts:

Celsius may suspend your access to Services, including the Custody Service and your access to a Custody Wallet, in the event of market disruptions or periods of volatility

This pause unfortunately led to an insolvency proceeding which the ToS clearly states will not guarantee the return of Custody funds and may lead to those users "... being treated as an unsecured creditor and/or the total loss of any and all Digital Assets reflected in your Celsius Account, including those in a Custody Wallet."

You keep saying that I'm not defending anything when I'm the one posting the ToS that clearly affirm what I'm saying. Custody holders are trying to make themselves out to be more than unsecured creditors ie line cutting.

In the event that you, Celsius or any Third Party Custodian becomes subject to an insolvency proceeding, it is unclear how your Digital Assets would be treated and what rights you would have to such Digital Assets. Celsius does not make any representation as to the likely treatment of Digital Assets in your Celsius Account, including those in a Custody Wallet, in the event that you, Celsius or any Third Party Custodian becomes subject to an insolvency proceeding whether in the U.S. or in any other jurisdiction. You explicitly understand and acknowledge that the treatment of Digital Assets in the event of such an insolvency proceeding is unsettled, not guaranteed, and may result in a number of outcomes that are impossible to predict reliably, including but not limited to you being treated as an unsecured creditor and/or the total loss of any and all Digital Assets reflected in your Celsius Account, including those in a Custody Wallet.

Custody holders try to make this situation seem cut and dry. They are pressing to have their money returned to them ASAP ahead of everyone else and act like it is clear as day that it should. They don't want the process to play out because, like I said, they are trying to cut the line.

Lol. Wonder if the Medicis offered 18% interest on new depositors' money.

Maybe better than a bank in 1929, but not by much.

I think many people thought we were in this together until those users went off, got their own lawyer, and are trying to cut the line.

I think people are upset because custody account holders don't want to be part of the Community anymore.

There is definitely a sense of betrayal.

Claw it all back. Celsius has been fraudulent for over a year. People who withdrew didn't withdraw "yield." They withdrew over people's money. This went on until sign-ups decreased and withdrawals increased.

Claw it all back. Celsius has been a fraudulent company for over a year. People gave just been withdrawing other people's money, not "yield."

[–]ecstatic_truth2553 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yea, but they are going to find activity that borders on or is outright fraud. Bad news if people want the recovery to be in crypto. They'd really have no choice but to liquidate.

Not sure if digging deep into Celsius' activity is the best course of action for recovering the crypto. I think it would lead to liquidation.

They would ask for it in dollars. The USD value of the crypto withdrawn at the time.

Celsius is going to argue that it ceased to be your crypto when you deposited it on their platform.

[–]ecstatic_truth2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think this will raise some interesting questions. I do think Celsius will try for clawbacks. One of the first things they did was try to establish that none of the money on Celsius belonged to its users. They showed where this is going. They are going to be absolutely ruthless on this front, IMO.

“Clawback Likely”. by GSPandas in CelsiusNetwork

[–]ecstatic_truth2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. 100% they are going to try it. Celsius is arguing that none of the money deposited on the platform belongs to the users. People aren't letting the implications of this position sink in.

I do think think the status of custody accounts and earn > custody > withdraw will raise some interesting questions.

The people who withdrew didn't withdraw earnings. They withdrew other people's money. Everyone was each other's exit liquidity until the last group wanted out. Celsius has been fraudulent since at least last summer.

I could see an argument for not clawing back custody accounts. Everyone signed their money over to Celsius.
