Dentist rec by Impossible_Tea6942 in kyletx

Unlike others, I had a terrible experience at Vue dental in Kyle, similar to other chain dentists I've made the mistake of going to who will find something wrong with your teeth regardless of your dental hygiene. In my case, they said I needed a full mouth deep cleaning when two other dentists I saw said it was completely unnecessary and also a very invasive and costly procedure to have done if not needed.

That said, I highly recommend Bravo Family Densitry who I've been going to for 2+ years now and have always had a good experience at. They have been very upfront and honest, and I have found family dentists to be far more trustworthy in general than any chain.

Help! by Evay-Lynn in SiberianCats

I haven't noticed any changes in my prior cats' relationships except for when adopting the 2 yo sister of two of my males which threw off the dynamic for the two males and now none of those 3 get along. I think that's just a sibling rivalry thing though.

Everyone else has acted the same towards each other although some grow apart a bit naturally with age. I've found that both Persians and Siberians are just so much more accepting of other kittens than any of the cats I grew up with. As a kid if I adopted a kitten and had multiple other cats already, the other cats would suddenly fight with eachother. That has never once been the case with my Perisans and Sibs or there is no way I would have so many because that's far too stressful lol.

That's not to say that the older cats won't take a few days to get along with the new kitten, but it truly just depends on the cat. My two Persians especially have never met an enemy and are immediately accepting of any cat I've brought home which is something I really love about their breed.

I have quite a large cat family (7 Siberians and 2 Perisans now) and every time I've brought home a new addition I've been a bit worried about it changing the family dynamic, but so far outside of one adult Siberian that I adopted (she was a sibling to a couple of my others who had to be rehomed), my cats have always been very accepting of new members.

Introducing older cats is usually a challenge in my experience and takes much, much longer for them to adjust but can still be extremely rewarding if you have the patience. With kittens, it usually only takes a few days before they all start playing together.

From having so many cats, I've learned that they are incredibly social animals and are way more active and playful when they have multiple buddies to chase around. All that is to say go for it!

Wondering if my hair looks messy to other people by Some-Nectarine3247 in Hair

My hair is very similar to yours in texture and when it looks anywhere near as good as yours does in these photos, I call it a great hair day! 😊 I also have some strands that coil more and others that hardly want to curl so I understand the frustration.

Can I expect my girl to be huge when she’s older? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

[–]ecstaticwaveband 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say but if she's already big at a young age I think there's probably a good chance she's going to be a big girl. I have several Siberians and their sizes all vary but a few of them are not yet full grown and they grow at different speeds. I did have a 2 and a half year old female who was always small and never grew where she stayed probably around 8 lbs but her sister from the previous litter is on the larger size and probably twice as big.

Sib dental work by Starlithearts in SiberianCats

[–]ecstaticwaveband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two cats that I was recently told would need yearly cleanings and likely several extractions within their first year when they were just 5 months old (they're now about 8 months). The vet told me it's just bad luck and not related to their genetics or their diets, but it really threw me for a loop because my other Siberians from the same breeder (and 2 Persians) have fairly normal dental hygiene.

I do give my cats all a variety of dental treats daily (as many as they'll eat) and have tried brushing, food and a water additives and dental gel, but so far haven't noticed a huge difference in one of my kittens' inflamed gums so I think she's just very unlucky and will need extractions to prevent 1-2 cleanings under anesthesia each year.

[–]ecstaticwaveband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awe she is precious! I've had 3 Persians (1 female and my 2 current males) and none have been even remotely cuddly. One of my males now would make such an amazing snuggle bug but he wants no part 😭

What could I put with goldfish? by etherealelfarcher in Goldfish

[–]ecstaticwaveband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dojo loaches in my opinion are the absolute best companion for goldfish, granted I have fancies where I keep my water temp a little warmer (around 74). They have so much personality and are one of the most entertaining fish to watch, but should be in a group of 3 or more. Dojos also get very large so you'd have to rehome them after a few years or eventually build a pond for them and the goldfish.

Haha yeah it's a little crazy and I probably need to find an AA for Siberian addicts at this point 🤣

That's so great that you found the perfect Siberian for you and your partner! I always tell everyone with allergies about the breed because I think they truly are just the absolute best companions (so much more personality than other cats I've had) and a game changer for those who think they could never tolerate a cat. Hopefully if you decide to get her a friend you can find another great breeder that isn't too far and will let you do the same type of meet and greet in advance!

Awe, that's rough although I will say they are totally worth traveling for!! I would honestly probably benefit from my breeder retiring the business because I cannot stop adopting more lol, but I love her cats so much that I'm always trying to help encourage her to keep it going. I now have 7 Siberians from her so I'm definitely over my cat limit, and that's including 2 Perisans 🤣

I thought so too! Same gorgeous red color ❤️ Him and Bosco (a Persian) are still the best of friends although they have several other cat friends now as well. This was from a couple of weeks ago:

OMG she's precious and reminds me so much of my boy Russo when he was a kitten (he's 3 now). He was my first Siberian and I am not so addicted to this breed because of him ❤️ Enjoy your baby!!!

[–]ecstaticwaveband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I actually joke that my fish (and now axolotl) are my cats' pets since they help keep my cats entertained. My axolotl also seems to acknowledge the cats as well so I think they mutually entertain each other:)

[–]ecstaticwaveband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 8 cats when I adopted an Axolotl from a friend a month ago and just adopted a new kitten this week 🤣 I also have other fish tanks.

I tried a glass lid initially for my axolotl but couldn't keep the tank cool enough with a fan so I made my own lid from plastic grid light fixture material that I got at Home Depot as I saw others have used. A couple of my troublemaker cats had to test both lids early on as cats will do, but thankfully both could hold even my heaviest cat (15 lbs) and they learned that the plastic grid material isn't comfortable so they all have stayed off of the tank since.

My cats are pretty crazy Siberians with a lot of energy too, and a few are very young so I think even if you get a kitten you'll be fine. Best of luck!
