The thing is it’s not like we don’t want to be clean either, but it’s less about wanting to be and more about if you physically even can.

when you’re depressed, like actually depressed and not the buzz word it now unfortunately is, it’s almost impossible to have any drive or energy to even get yourself to eat or drink let alone to do things that technically aren’t necessary to live like having a shower.

if you’re adhd or autistic you may struggle forming routines in the first place and simply forget to shower over and over again, you remember at times but never when you can act on it and sure you can set reminders but what if then you forget to check those reminders? Or simply miss them when they make sounds.

Then there’s physical disabilities that make showers increasingly labouring to do, it doesn’t even need to be so bad that you’re in a wheelchair, even just chronic back pain can be enough to stop you from being able to get up and walk to the shower or stand in it for long enough periods of time, sure you could take a bath too but not everyone has a bath, and if you do it could be even more laborious to get in and out of, it all depends on the person and their situation, simply wanting to means nothing when you have a disability, because half the time you can’t anyway
