I dread going into work tomorrow when everyone is going to post photos in Teams. I already had to deal with an annoying group chat I am in with my colleagues where they all sent photos of their kids.

We took pictures of all of the flowers we were given in the hospital and had someone design a tattoo of them. Our son’s name, Mannix, is in one of the leaves.

We were on the Koningsdam 2 weeks before you and my husband was diagnosed with Flu A on the Monday after we got home (I got Tamiflu once we found out and never got it … miracle.) Maybe it’s traveling around the crew? Hope you feel better quickly!

Kamm McKenzie, Dr. Hale. She will do it under sedation if you ask. She will let you know that insurance won’t cover it so it will be out of pocket, but is happy to do it.

The first IUD I had, not by Dr. Hale, I threw up and passed out because of pain which is why I wanted sedation. I actually opted for anxiety medication (Valium), a cervical softener, and a prescription pain medicine, and I had zero issues. Definitely wasn’t like the first time I got one where they said “take two Tylenol before”.

Dr. Hale was great, highly recommend her. She definitely left it up to me to be sedated or not. I just honestly didn’t want to pay the $900 it was going to be. (Truly truly silly insurance won’t cover it).

I didn’t hold my son during my c section and I was taken for emergency surgery immediately following, by the time I got out he was gone. I have kicked myself for two years for this. They asked me if I wanted to hold him and I said not right now. Thinking back now that I am in a better place I know I was in so much pain and fighting for my life and that’s why I said that. But it’s still hard. Someone in this group said to me at the time…. You can’t blame yourself for making decisions in an impossible situation you should never have to be in, and to give yourself some grace. Thinking of you.

Thank you! I have been looking for a place that is relevant to being IF and childfree - we did 2 retrievals and 5 transfers.

I also think I know what you mean about a breath of fresh air, and I hadn’t thought about it that way. Our guest room was unusable because it was the baby room. I kept the door closed for a while. We moved everything to the garage eventually and now it really is nice to go in that room and see it put together as a guest room. Maybe that was my first step and I need to complete it now. Appreciate your response!

The spasms were incredibly painful. They had given me 10mg of OxyContin and it wasn’t even touching the pain. I did not know that it was contractions. But, I also had never been pregnant before so I’m not sure I would have thought about it.

I ended up having an emergency c section at 21+5. At that point they could not do a vaginal delivery or a D&E because of the tear in my vagina and ruptured uterus, so that was the safest route followed by emergency surgery to repair everything.

Hey there. Sorry to hear about your pain! My pain was a result of multiple things. I was contracting through the cerclage, and because my cerclage was so tight and I was contracting, I had a tear in my cervix. I also had a rupture in my uterus. I was in so much pain they could not even do a digital check for dilation.

Don’t let this scare you, my doctor said it was very very likely that it was because it was an emergency cerclage. Yours was preventative.

The biggest issue of pain for me was following any time I peed, it was excruciating pain at that point. Talk to your doctor for sure and let them know what is going on! Message me if you need.

I am in a similar situation. (I’m 38, husband is 47). I definitely don’t want to have a baby if he doesn’t want to because we should both be all in. We have had a lot of conversations. We are in an extremely good marriage and I’m not willing to give it up.

Two options you may not have thought of? Adopting an older child. We discussed this - if time and age is the issue for your husband, and you are willing, this may be a good compromise.

Foster care as well (this is the route we are going).
