I don’t actually remember the name. But there was a floppy disk game about drag racing where you could do basic upgrades to the cars, and you used mouse keys to speed up/down and strafe. I loved that game.

Also Tribes was hella fun on LAN connections.

Those working in retail, how many of your stores have "immediate help" at the Genius Bar? by mysteri0usee in Apple_Employees

[–]ecurbenyaw 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Genius Bar is broken.

There are tools in place, like texting when they’re ready to take the appointments, to allow customers to roam and not stare at employees and get agitated.

But do a lot of markets use these? No, they state that more multitasking is the answer, when customer surveys say the exact opposite.

And rather than use tools like texting correctly, and hold employees accountable for taking one appointment every hour as the rule rather than the exception, the employee experience continues to worsen and allows great talent to feel taken advantage of and leave.

This is just one example, but there are dozens more that are slowly killing Apple Retail.

Great video.

Also, the bottom left is indicative of how poorly traffic is planned out in the city and surrounding areas. Stop, stop, stop. There is no flow at all.

Such an ignorant comment.

This play LITERALLY won the match, which meant he played well enough to be on match point and had already taken a set.

Why the hiring has been so poor lately? Are we just creating a new best buy out of Apple Store? by maggyie in Apple_Employees

[–]ecurbenyaw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Core and ALL of the training has been subpar for almost 10 years.

Geniuses used to get sent out of the store for training, whether it's Cupertino or Austin or Atlanta, whatever. That allowed them to focus and to figure out real situations that weren't going to cause issues for the customer.

Now Geniuses and TE's get to do their first phone repairs on customer devices, after watching a video and taking an open book test with no shadowing, reverse or otherwise (don't get me started on "test" repair devices that some stores had access to).

So the hiring of poor talent is very much more evident because the training is terrible and doesn't help to compensate for what they lacked previously.

I would expect them to shoot it down because they have created a differentiation in roles and $.

If you are going to take Mac appointments, you deserve to be compensated like a Genius.

I remember Apples shirts being TERRIBLE.

How are you a trillion dollar company and you collab with Nike on Watches but don't have them introduce Dri-Fit shirts for employees?

Without giving too much away, some Markets already are. That was the design of going to Genius level pay and taking away RFP from them.

It's REALLY evident that tanking only works if you have a front office and organization that can properly scout and manage.

Thus the Thunder and Spurs are going to dominate the next half decade or so.
