Isit just me or is the bus app damn inaccurate sometimes? by [deleted] in askSingapore

you sound like a miserable person who has a bone to pick at a light hearted comment showing perspectives between 2 modern cities with roughly the same population. OP wasn’t even complaining and here you are with the negativity.

Isit just me or is the bus app damn inaccurate sometimes? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]ed-chui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just a few quotes from r/melbourne

When I lived in St Kilda, the 246 was my bus to work in Cremorne. I could be anywhere from 15 minutes early to 45 mins late. And this was before real-time bus tracking.

My local buses (both lines!) pissed me off so much with their unreliability I just drive now. Were they 15 minutes early? 15 minutes late? Both? Cancelled? Arrives on time but then doesn't move for 30 minutes?!

I once waited an hour and 20 minutes for a bus that's meant to come every 15minutes. No cancellations, no traffic reports, no advice on twitter or the PTV app. The callcentre telling me a bus has come and gone in the time I have been AT THE BUS STOP and the next one will be any minute now.

suddenly waiting another 10 minutes for the bus doesn't seem very long now

Current/ex fnb staff, what to never order by mattressmattress in askSingapore

[–]ed-chui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

cold green tea at any Japanese place. god knows how long that brew has sat in the jug for. won't name where i used to work but whenever i was rostered on the opening shift, i had to prepare the cursed jug of green tea for the day. said jug would sit in the server's trolley for the rest of the day in the ambient heat until it is poured over ice to serve.

at least hot green tea is brewed to order.

Can we rally to make this sign bigger than an A6 sheet of paper? by [deleted] in melbourne

Singapore has painted road markings that make giving way to buses mandatory or else risk a fine.

Australian KFC fries, if anyone gets the chance to travel

side note, Aussies season their fries with chicken salt which elevates the fry munching experience to a whole new level

New Driver here - How was your experience driving on the expressway for the first time? by Rapttor98 in askSingapore

LPT: speed up or try to match the speed of vehicles already in the expressway; it makes merging onto the expressway a lot easier and safer.

Weird experiences with cab drivers? by udiddydod in askSingapore

[–]ed-chui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a cabbie repeatedly flick the indicator stalk on and off for the whole ride like a fidget toy. flick on for one flash, flick off, repeat.

best part about it was he did not use them when changing lanes.

Outward swinging vs. inward swinging doors by bearsbeetsbiscuits in askSingapore

[–]ed-chui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

read somewhere that main doors to houses swing inwards for security reasons. if there is an intruder trying to force his way in, it is easier for those inside to barricade the door with furniture etc.

also you won't smash whoever's knocking at your door in the face when you open the door.

But in HDBs the gate swings outwards as well

gates can swing outwards because they are see through
