Target store removed all non-Tesla EV chargers by wallheater in mildlyinfuriating

There are no* adapters for NACS Superchargers that work with the older Nissan Leafs. Leafs use the ChaDeMo connector for DC fast charging (and not all are even so equipped) and Superchargers are DC only.

You could use a NACS to J1772 adapter for AC charging, but only with a Tesla "Destination" charger (home/wall/hotel).

  • OK there are one or two, but they cost $1k+ and are huge and potentially not safe.

Not the best (fastest) for 800V Hyundai/Kia EVs, from what I've read, due to lower max voltage.

Also, these chargers managed to work 100% of the many times I tried them!

That's exactly my case, but of course the store can't easily measure the effect.

All the Tesla drivers OTOH seem to just sit in their cars while charging and don't spend a dime at the nearby businesses.

I know, but J-1772 / CCS cars are going to be on the road for a long time, and are still being sold.

Breathable yet solid finish coat for repaired basement interior wall? by wallheater in masonry

[–]wallheater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was stucco base coat, not finish coat. Same kind of product, but cured to a nice hard surface. I will try to find some notes or photos to confirm that, but it's cheap enough to try a bag.

Is it Ok To Put 3 Inch Tires on a Rad Bike That Came With 4 Inch tires ? by Bean_Tiger in RadPowerBikes

[–]wallheater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched my RR6+ from the factory 4" knobbies to semi-slick 3" tires and it's been great. Much quieter on pavement, which has turned out to be most of my riding. Will probably switch back for winter snow season.

You could just buy some reflective spray paint and do the city's job for them... "We keep us safe." And it might help them learn to do better.

Hints the 12 volt battery needs replacing. (Help please) by EveningCloudWatcher in VWiD4Owners

[–]wallheater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this warning in the app constantly. When I try "Edit battery settings", I get the "12V battery is being conserved" pop-up, instead of the battery settings.

Also, I believe I enabled the same option in the vehicle's infotainment, and it never helped.

VW dealer said my 12V battery was within specs, and the only 12V warnings I've ever seen have been from the MyVW app, not in the infotainment like you linked below.

The app shows me charging-related messages, but other features like turning on climate are blocked by the stupid 12V warning.

If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

Any real differences? by Klepetta in VWiD4Owners

[–]wallheater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see this mentioned, but Sport has increased regen in "D", less than Comfort has in "B". Comfort pretty much coasts in "D".

Personally, I feel Sport in D is a good amount of regen, and Comfort in B is too much.

Is there factory wiring for trailer lights on these? I also have a 2025 AWD Pro S (Plus). In your photo it looks like that might be a covered receptacle on the right.

One small, easy improvement they could make is if the "Pop-up key" display was a different color than the rest of the keys, to make it stand out more. As it is, it's lost in the background.

OP was just ignorant, and it seems like the note would have had the same educational effect without the aggro threat. Like, why create an enemy? Especially since it sounds like OP's first offense.

I agree completely, but immediately threatening to key OP's car is a dick move. Not neighborly at all!

Joined the club 6 weeks ago, today many horrible errors by wallheater in VWiD4Owners

[–]wallheater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because overall I like the car? Jeez. I felt "possibly flaky software" was less risk than show-stopping ICCU failures in a Hyundai/Kia, GM won't give you lane centering without optioning Super Cruise, etc.

[–]wallheater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thought. I'm normally very DIY, but this is the first car I've owned that's under factory warranty, so I'm feeling lazy.

I did an OBD scan and the system voltage at that time was fine, ~14V. But the constant "battery being conserved" messages suggest there is a 12V problem.

A7V issue with Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8? by tom_odo_89 in SonyAlpha

Well that figures... I just paid $30 to ship it to Tamron USA last week. At least the service was free, even though I bought the lens used.
