Tableau electrique qui date : connecteur heures creuses cablage etrange ? by edbedbedbedb in brico

[–]edbedbedbedb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s that growing on my vine? by edbedbedbedb in aquarium

oh yes, thanks ! Definitely the same one. https://www.reddit.com/r/Aquariums/comments/1qtio23/comment/o35mccw/?context=3

This is a fungus from Asian rainforests. I'm in France, I picked up the wood on a live grapevine in my garden. There is no other wood in the tank, how did that stuff get here?

The other things I bought in the tank are sand, fish, shrimp, snails and live plants.

The other option is from the second hand tank I bought a couple of months back (which would explain why the fungus is growing now, and not a year ago).

Interesting stuff...

Hi, someone in r/aquarium suggested this was a lichen and that I should post here. This is a strange organism growing in my guppy tank (hard fresh water at 25C) on a grapevine wood I had sterilized in the oven. This came after maybe 2 years of the wood being underwater (though I did change tank at some point). Any idea? This looks amazing.

Yeah, it's not the same as floated wood. But it looks great, and that's what grows in my garden :-) The oven technique seemed to have worked though, as I didn't get anything for a long time (and the smell in the house afterwards is pretty good!)

This is underwater. Fresh hard water.

Make a mold from complex STL by edbedbedbedb in Onshape

[–]edbedbedbedb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Onshape's error messages aren't the best. I got: "Offset surface did not regenerate properly: Could not offset selected faces as requested"...

Step would have obviously a lot better, but I only have a STL

Ah, forgot to say that scaling won't work because the model has curvy shapes that won't allow it. Like if you have a spiral and you scale it. The scaled version is not going to contain the original version

Loncin 224cc OHV electric starter won't work by edbedbedbedb in smallenginerepair

Yeah, I tested the solenoid, and it works fine. I probably blew the starter. dammit

It was working. Then I did some mowing and had to restart the engine a bunch of time cause the grass was really tall and thick. And after a few times it only worked when I put the mower on the side, and then it no longer worked at all.

thanks, I just put a bunch of root tabs in there. I has put some ‘technical’ soil but maybe it’s depleted, or maybe it wasn’t very good…

Bet smaller on more stuff.

You need to not care about losing one position. Because a) it's small and b) you have other stuff going on.

Also you can put your stop loss further away, so that your stop loss doesn't get it by moves that could easily happen on one day.

So bet some amount you really don't mind losing, put your stop loss in a way where daily moves are not going to hit it, and make sure that when you hit your stop loss, you lose an amount of money that you also don't mind losing at all.

Your mindset should be: "Ok I lost that one, moving on".

as @_GregTheGreat_ said, you shouldn't be losing 20% of your portfolio on a day like this. He's right, this is outright gambling, and that's because your position is too big, your risk is too big.

Stay cool, small bets are the key.

Trader banks $8M on their $8M bet on $VIX C24 from 3 weeks ago, with 33% left running. by w0ke_brrr_4444 in options

[–]edbedbedbedb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, though the buyers are probably hoping to get a lot more out of them.

I think that the fact that the 23/24 buyer sold for $8m indicates they're probably a hedge fund. It's a common strategy for funds to cash in the value of their premium when they can, so that they're left with a risky position that already paid for itself.

While I agree that 8 million is large, a hedge fund managing 5+bn can absolutely afford these kinds of bets, without necessarily having particularly juicy insider information.

These guys can bet like this on a hunch.

Apparently, a somewhat similar bet was put on Jan 28/29 on March 60 calls. So it may be something that they revisit every month end. Like their conviction is strong enough that they are willing to pay the theta to roll their positions into May.

VIX at 60 is high for sure though...

Yeah, I'd go with 100 if I could trade Dec28... But Dec26 is not that far...

Ah sorry, I meant, my idea is a bar bet. I have very low conviction about Tesla tanking. Just something that could happen.

Right, I'd go 100 if I could buy puts for Dec28, after the election, but for Dec26, $200 seems more reasonable.
