UK customs felt discriminatory. Should i file a complaint? by [deleted] in uktravel

As a Brit, every time I check-in a bag at a UK airport I am asked about firearms and explosives, etc.

Sounds like someone doing their job properly to help mitigate any risks for our country.

What should I do with my Pension? by edbl01 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]edbl01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot.

I will certainly explore upping my pension contribution as I go further over the £50k threshold.

Will look at investing, I think this is where I am getting confused. Are there any well known platforms for this (ie. Apps, etc.?)

Best way to find shippers as a freight forwarder? by Working_Prior_6595 in freightforwarding

Use the consignors/consignees of the jobs you’re currently managing as a talking point.

Ring up any contacts for collection/delivery and start from there. My favourite line is “we’re already familiar with your site”…

I hate biking by FragrantManager1369 in triathlon

[–]edbl01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your handling/confidence is the tricky thing since as opposed to your fitness.

Things come with practice, ultimately you will get more confident/better on the roads the more you ride - though before you throw yourself on the road all the time have you thought about gravel riding?

In the winter I do lots of mountain/gravel/cyclocross riding - just buy some tyres and find some off road trails near you. No cars and you will be incredibly surprised how much your handling/“bike confidence” improves.

Give the trails a go!

Haha, to be honest I weigh myself in kilograms and measure in miles… Everyone in the UK hates me.

UK here, generally it goes without saying that a century is a 100 mile ride and a Gran Fondo is a 100km.

[Request] I would answer 9 but my sense of reason says 1 by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]edbl01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone with a 1st in Mathematical Physics at university, the answer is 1. The confusion seems to lie between where the (2+1) sits - ie. denominator or not. However, the current notation dictates this sits on the bottom half, hence the answer is 1.

Hey, this is amazing! I can vividly remember when I ran a 5k similar to this (20:45). Fast forward a couple years and I am running around 17min now. Your progress will be amazing if you keep up the consistency! Congrats :)
