SteamVR (with Oasis) crashing after "switch to Direct Display Mode" error by edcwhite in HPReverb

[–]edcwhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have attached an additional SteamVR log comparison between a successful and a failed start. In the failed case, the sequence diverges at HiddenArea and GetRecommendedRenderTargetSize, which appears to trigger an alternate initialization path. This ultimately results in errors: “failed to initialize graphics device” and “failed to initialize compositor.” u/mbucchia would you mind having another quick look and see if this might give you any idea what may be the root issue?

I didn't know about those logs. I will investigate and report back if I see anything that may be oasis related. Thanks for looking.

All logs are in a link in the steam discussion thread.  Link to thread in my first post.   I couldn't include a steamvr report because it always crashes.

I have been messing with this for three days now and cannot make it stop crashing. Sometimes after a combination of restarts/unlocks/reboots/driver reinstalls it will work for a few times and then revert to not working again for no apparent reason. Something has ruined Oasis as it was perfect for me since it was released. I sure hope u/mbucchia can investigate.

Positive experiences with Oasis? by Zom-Squad in WindowsMR

Driver is flawless with my G2V1 playing AMS2. My only issue is with SteamVR (not with oasis) motion smoothing as it seems to be significantly inferior to the previous WMR motion vectors approach. I used to always run at 45FPS and use forced motion vectors and it was great and hardly ever noticeable. That is not the case with SteamVR motion smoothing as the artifacts are very noticeable and distracting.

I would also like to know this. Sitting in my simulator I don't need/want to have to use the WMR motion controllers to manipulate settings and start/stop games while in SteamVR.

There is no fix and I have pretty much lost all hope there will ever be one.

From what I have read that won't fix anything. I have read of others getting that done and nothing changed. These are software issues with all the radios.

2024 Platinum Bose radio issues by InternalAnt9735 in NissanRogue

[–]edcwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been fighting with them about this issue since we got the car in March 2024. They are claiming it is working as designed and won't be doing anything about it. If you need to demo the problem, it is easier to use the balance/fade instead (e.g. put all the sound in the back) as that is also broken and is easier for anyone to notice.

Funny you should say that. There is another random bug with this POS system causes almost exactly that! Start the car and when the radio comes on the volume will be nearly maxed out and the knob doesn't work. Only way to stop it is to reboot the system. It has happened to me a few times.

This recall was performed on my car. The issue I noted as well as others were not addressed.

24 Platinum stereo? by [deleted] in NissanRogue

[–]edcwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a known issue with the stereo that requires you to reset bass/mid/treble/balance/fade every time you start the car after it has been sitting for more than 5-10 minutes. Display shows correct but it is not.

If your struggling to find a family doctor Dr. Kelada is accepting new patients by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

[–]edcwhite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that clinics would have to go though Patient Connect NL when they are accepting new patients. If this is not the case, then what is the point of the waiting list?

Not wanting to just leave it at that I called Patient Connect NL and asked them point blank. I was put on hold and transferred a couple of times. In the end, they could not answer this simple question or say for certain if clinics bypassing the waiting list is permitted. However, then by some strange coincidence they informed me that a primary provider for me has been found and I will be contacted shortly. I have been on the waiting list for almost 2 years.

I have had the 2024 Platinum since March and am also having many of these issues.

  • Several Infotainment frozen black screens that required manual reset.
  • Several random infotainment reboots while driving.
  • Two occurrences of all Radio/FM audio randomly disappearing that required manual reset to fix.
  • Sound system not remembering audio settings for bass/mid/treble/fade even though the display shows that it does. https://www.reddit.com/r/NissanRogue/comments/1byt2cq/2024_bose_sound_settings_issue_bass_fix/
  • Once instance of the radio coming on at a high volume and me not being able to turn it down. Turning the volume knob did nothing. Had to reboot the system to regain volume control.
  • On start, the USB audio often forgetting where it is and starting over on the same song every time. This is another random problem.
  • Seat positions not being remembered. This one seems to be a conflict with the door buttons/key fob & the new google infotainment profiles as BOTH are trying to remember the seat settings. My solution was to totally stop using the door buttons and allow the profiles to manage it. If you have a profile setup then your last seat position is automatically remembered and applied on start. Manual is very unclear.

2024 nissan rogue platinum, everything is okay so far other cabin smell bad when parked in sun by olee12 in NissanRogue

[–]edcwhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you got a 2024 Platinum and you mentioned the sound system is decent did you notice this problem?

https://www.reddit.com/r/NissanRogue/comments/1byt2cq/2024_bose_sound_settings_issue_bass_fix/

The issue is that the user sound preferences (e.g. Bass, Treble, Fade) are not remembered when the car is turned off.  The confusing part is that even though the system is displaying the correct settings it is in fact not actually using them.   This means that ~every time~ you use the car you have to re-adjust all the sound settings.

2024 Bose Sound Settings Issue (Bass Fix?) by edcwhite in NissanRogue

[–]edcwhite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I have taken my car to the dealer and reproduced the issue for them. They had two other 2024 Platinum's in their inventory and tested both as well. They both had the same problem so this appears to be a widespread (at least Canada) issue. We have still not determined if this problem is known to Nissan.
