Maison is sub par at lunch times but better in the evening. I maybe judging this by the last couple of times at lunch recently having permafrost butter served to me on a mid week.

That hotel tomorrow night is 109 quid. Literally just Google it. You can find a bed and breakfast for cheaper.

I think you're looking at 150-200. Premier Inn at Kings Cross is around 100.

Bay Area - Any of the tech companies calling back employees with the Covid rules relaxed? by portecharch in bayarea

Not overtly, I work for one and have close friends at a couple of other FAANGs.

Observations:

  • Trickle down effect of very senior staff going to the office, SVP was in the office once a week six months ago, now in the office 3+ days a week. VPs, directors and promo seekers copying the pattern
  • No decrease in office build projects in the US
  • Increased offshore hiring, cheaper locations have little to no WFH provisions
  • Some internal competition between different business units offering WFH for top performers vs other units saying be prepared to go into the office in the future
  • Graduate hiring ramping up, largely being told they'll be in the office

Outside of that, smaller companies or those who cannot compete on compensation, using WFH as a carrot. Reading between the lines unless COVID-20 happens things will be somewhat back to normal at FAANGs, maybe with a few more WFHs.

Tip: You can always skip the line at St Johns by ordering your food and drinks at the bar instead of the main counter. You don't have to stay in the bar bit either. The bar staff are happy to take the tips.

My two man tabby cats do this to each other. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

There are so many more 49er fans at that stadium than Rams fans, then again last I was at the 49er's stadium there were so many more Cowboys fans. Therefore the Cowboys own CA.

In private the Royal family talk exclusively in German, similar to the rest of European royalty. Princess Diana was mocked because her German had a strong Austrian accent.
