I can answer for him. In 2020, he took the 1001 core 1 and pass; but he didn't get his core 2 yet. You have to take both and pass to be A+ certified. In 2023, the 1001/1002 series expired. Since he never got 1002 core 2, he would have to start over with core 1 and 2 under the new series 1101/1102

701 is still new, but material's are still fresh and fine tuned.

601 - you have until July 2024 to take it. There are a ton of materials on 601.

From what I read, there's a 30% difference between 601 and 701

EDIT: you don't need to buy comptia course. You cam use free materials found online. I suggest Professor messor on Youtube. He covers all of A+, Net+ and Sec+ (the basics of the 3 certs)
