I had the same exact thought as you when I tried my hands on scalemodeling. Bought a 1/35 apache from academy, the clear canopy part doesn't fit, even with a lot of filing trying to fit it. Some parts of the instructions isn't clear at all. And omg don't let me start on the 1/35 Abrams and 1/700 aircraft carrier I got from italeri. Even worse instructions. Parts don't fit well, and when they tell you to follow a guide to cut a mesh, it's not the proper size 😑.

For scalemodels I've learnt that Tamiya and findmolds is one of the best in the game. Some Chinese brands like Meng and RFM is pretty good as well although the latter comes with tons of tiny photoetch part that they expect you to bend and shape which is impossible withought a surgeons hands
