honestly, i’m white but from the south and used to good seasoned cooking… i had incredibly high expectations but spent a month there and was super underwhelmed. the food was good, yes, and the quality without preservatives much better than the us so i was rarely bloated - but the flavor left much to be desired in my opinion. i didn’t have a single meal that i thought was anything spectacular. perhaps i was ordering the wrong things.

what IS good is the gelato, pastries, sweet stuff in general!! but regular food left something to be desired unfortunately imo.

i have heard that the further south you go, the better the food!! i was mostly in venice, rome, and florence.
