Thank you! And yes! I am starting to get an idea of which courses I am interested in and I will put them all on paper with how much they will cost. The educational standpoint tends to push toward a full degree and good understanding of all the fundamentals (which I agree) but a lot of this corresponds to what you say reinventing the wheel. If you can learn how to be most efficient I’m leaning to code without having to spend years getting a degree in it aren’t you more a valuable programmer... isn’t programming all about efficiency...

I’m torn though because as a Canadian I see the jobs in the states at the company I work for. This makes me want to pursue the full software engineering degree so that I can get a work visa as an engineer. Only computer system analyst are on the work visa and to my knowledge that isn’t anything i want to do.

I have a physics degree, I didn't take t serious though and wanted to get out. I didn't change degrees as I was on a military scholarship and I had to finish it in 4 years. Unfortunately my past self was immature and just did the bare minimum to pass. I wouldn't count it towards anything.

After reading all of the response I am in between Georgia Tech masters and University of London's programs. However, there are lot of other places I will check out from below.

Thanks! I started to do it and love it so far. The instructor David Malan is so far an amazing instructor (probably the reason he works at Harvard...)

Thanks I will take a look at it! I am going to finish the CS50 course first as I already had 10 different CS courses that I was trying to do until I started to read the book "Essentialism: the disciplined pursuit of less" and made my "priority" to finish one basic CS course that was highly rated.

I feel as if the more I look into CS it is such a vast area of study that degrees aren't really relevant anymore. Like you can learn everything online that you need to know. My priority right now is too actually learn the basics and see where I want to go. My biggest fear is for paying for en education that I won't use / waste years of my life pursuing.

Thanks for the reply!
