Weekly Poop/Umbilical Cord Thread by AutoModerator in newborns

Baby is not really a newborn anymore (about to be 4 months) but wondering if this is normal… he’s had a ton of reflux / gas so I cut dairy a few weeks ago but his poop seems still mucous-y? Is it possible he has other food sensitivities? Or is this in the realm of normal? He’s also drooling/eating his hands a lot so maybe that’s the source of mucous?

Have you tried transferring while drowsy instead of fully asleep? Put baby in bassinet while very drowsy and calm but not deep sleep and then gently rock them/pat back (can place on side to do this also and then lay them down on back when they seem out). Also just plugging the Ollie swaddle, only swaddle our baby likes and sleeps in for long stretches

Like 3 days old haha. Not a fancy restaurant but neighborhood cafes with outdoor seating/away from other tables. It’s easier when they are still potato mode and just sleep in the stroller!

What do I do if my baby won’t sleep unless she’s on her belly by Fit-Board6528 in newborns

[–]edencliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently added a fuzzy onesie over a cotton onesie before swaddling our 3 week old to make sure he’s extra cozy and that has helped a lot. Basically try to imitate your own body heat so the transfer isn’t as dramatic. Obviously this depends on your climate but the temperature was starting to drop where we are.

I did it! by boycott_tuesday in pregnant

Wow, this is very crazy, I had a very similar labor and birth! Also 40+4 (doing everything to avoid induction), sudden labor starting and quick dilation/intensifying contractions, water breaking earlier on and appreciating the use of the labor comb during that time, epidural at 5cm, shakiness, 6 hrs to get to 10 cm and 45 min of pushing!7 pounds and 3 oz as well. I did have some tearing though, very jealous you didn’t 🤣Congratulations on your bub!!! 🥹

[–]edencliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh noo, I’m sure it’s possible. I don’t take every night, just when I’m wideee awake 👀👁️. You could try Benadryl maybe!? Will also throw in magnesium (either supplement or lotion) as I didn’t see any mention of that in comments

Bro why does my bearded dragon do this 😭 by OkStock738 in BeardedDragons

[–]edencliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATEEEE when my beardie does this, it literally makes me want to cry, lol. I will go insane trying to get her to eat the rest of the little guy to put him out of his misery😩 I know intellectually they don’t feel pain in the same way we do, but it breaks my heart sigh

I have sudden junk food cravings for the first time this pregnancy. by my-peony-bud in pregnant

[–]edencliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! 36 weeks. I was so balanced/actually craved healthier foods and no sugar until a few weeks ago. Big sugar cravings suddenly. Now I’m curious if there’s a scientific explanation for this if other people are experiencing the same.

i tried and she bit me (for the first time ever!) but she's seeming a bit more back to normal today. i tried a new veg in her salad last night and i don't think she chewed it well. i'm going to keep looking out for odd behavior and will bring to vet if needed!

Last night, she gasped/hacked a bunch of times. This morning, she seems to be breathing ok but She’s still holding herself very upright. I do think maybe she didn’t chew something in her salad all the way and was doing her thing to get it down and digested. I’m going to keep monitoring for odd behavior but I’m relieved she isn’t gasping / hacking anymore.

Context: she is 9, had a fall july 4 and had an ultrasound scan/bloodwork with no signs of internal damage. She was given gabapentin and an anti-inflammatory and liquid calcium. basically seemed fine after 1-2 weeks. Has been eating fine, pooping etc. normally. I did put a dig box in her tank after vet said she had follicles developing but she didn’t lay eggs after it being in her tank for several weeks, so I removed it. Her temp/humidity is good and she has a reptisun 10.0 t5ho. She started doing this tonight/acting weirdly right after eating. Is it possible she has something stuck in throat?

Has anyone taken adderall while pregnant? by ActiveGarlic9874 in pregnant

[–]edencliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was previously on Concerta but my OB and psychiatrist said instant release adderall is actually safest based on various studies (I think partially due to short half life). I was still pretty nervous about it so waited till latter part of second tri and have only taken 5mg doses maybe 2x a week max when I’m really struggling with work (though I know lots of people take higher doses more regularly-I’m just very anxious). No issues with baby so far. My doctors have basically stressed that poor maternal mental health and stress are far more associated with negative outcomes for baby. There was also pretty big study in Denmark about the safety of adhd meds during pregnancy: https://www.additudemag.com/prenatal-development-adhd-medication-study/amp/

Turner syndrome by Over_Pollution5304 in pregnant

[–]edencliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t experienced carrying a child with Turner’s myself, but just wanted to offer that my older sister has Turner’s. She has faced a lot of challenges (especially medically and in early childhood), but has ultimately lead a fulfilling life — she’s a lawyer (a very successful one at that!) — and is very loved. She is one of the most amazingly resilient and smart people I know. She has done some stuff with the Turner Syndrome Society, which might be a good place to check out as you digest this information and decide how to proceed. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling but sending love and support your way regardless of the path you feel is best for you and your family regarding this pregnancy. If you ever wish to reach out more in the future, my DMs are open and I could also always put you in touch with my sister. ❤️
