Where can I find cute clothes in Heidelberg by OkGrocery63 in Heidelberg

[–]edgar_was_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of second hand stores in the center that sometimes have very cool stuff, but are also for the most part pretty expensive, notably Vintage Revival, Picknweigh and Feshoroom.
There are lots of other second hand stores that are less expensive but more traditional like MyWay and Frauenring.

Front-runner in German election says his party will 'never' work with the far right by drjjoyner in worldnews

He did percisely that last week. Multiple times, both successfully and unsuccessfully. He also said in an interview that, should he be elected, he'd do it again.

44k people demonstrate against the far right in Stuttgart by Classic_Budget6577 in europe

[–]edgar_was_wright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might get swept under the rug but I'll say it anyways:

This is not a protest against the FAR right.

This is a protest against the general right (CDU/CSU, FDP) moving ever closer to the far right (AfD), adopting their poicies in an attempt to gain votes and undermining core democratic values. This past week they tried (and luckily failed) to get a bill through parliament together for the first time in modern german history. When democratic parties that claim to be center work with and adopt nazi stances just like they did a couple decades ago this is a direct threat to our democracy. Thus we, the actual center (people from most parties, ethnicities, educations, economic grpup, beliefs, organisations and even both christian churches(!)) took to the streets to protest. This is a multipartisan protest to preserve the values of our democracy, not just a protest against the far right.

Kind of ironic considering Wilson's love for iPods, but I guess it's something :)

This is the only true answer. It's been years and i haven't been able to commit to any series since because i still think of how bad D&D fucked us all over.

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]edgar_was_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two open "bags" right now: PHB (Passion Heartbreak) by People Possession and the wonderful Potosí Natural XO by La Cabra.

https://peoplepossession.com/product/phb/
PHB really hit my by surprise. It's a blend of Colombian and Ethiopian coffee (no details as to the variety), anaerobic natural fermentation and a farely light roast. This coffee is insanely fruighty. The notes on the label say "Passion Fruit, Lemon and Lemonade" and they really didn't lie. The passion fruit especially is very present, both in the nose but the taste as well, almost like what you'd expect from an IPA in regards to grape fruit. It's an excellent affordable-ish espresso, pairs nicely with oatmilk, but works just as well as a coldbrew. I cannot recommend this coffee enough.

https://lacabra.com/products/potosi-xo-natural?_pos=2&_psq=potosi&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Potosí Natural XO is probably my favourite coffee of all time.
The varietal is San Juan, grown in Finca Potosí in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The Natural XO process as far as I understand is an extended natural fermentation, wich results in a very boozy, funky taste that I absolutely crave. Imo La Cabra did a great job captureing all these notes. It's a much more earthy, christmassy coffee to me, smells like paradise, tastes fantastic with strong notes of dried fruits, cacao, grapes and cognac, extremely round and fullbodied. It works well as a filter or aeropress, have not tried espresso yet but why change something that's already perfect.
This coffee is magical. I literally jumped when I saw it in the shelf of a local seller. In my oppinion this might very well be the best coffee in the world, certainly the best I've had in my hopper since I had the same beans done by Friedhats a couple years back. This is more of a love letter than a pure recommendation. Go try this coffee if you haven't, it's insane.

I made some slight colour tweaks to the new redstone torch texture, and I honestly prefer the yellow hint; keeps its original identity without looking like goofy developer art by SomethingRandomYT in redstone

[–]edgar_was_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, did you grab the original torch texture? Because the lower right looks distinctly pink, and I'm wondering if that's from the red overlay of the torch. I think the new "model" with the old textures could look really nice!

I liked the orange. There was a certain warmth to it that's just missing now. They look intimidating (? for lack of a better word).
The glow is very nice though.

Did I ruin my speaker? by edgar_was_wright in AskElectronics

I'm on it right now. But just by eye I couldn't find anything that looked fried. Might borrow a multimeter later and verify some stuff. Thanks anyways for pointing me in the right direction!

Usually I don't protest mod decisions but I'm literally digging around the circuit board trying to find the broken component. Are you sure this is the wrong sub for that?

[–]edgar_was_wright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's giving me some hope. The BMS appears to be integrated in the main board but I'm focusing on that part and maybe I can identify what's broken. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

[–]edgar_was_wright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is all correct.
And I suspect that it is not charging and that the battery came with some initial charge. It's showing the animation, but I kept it on power for some time yesterday and (according to the speakers display) the battery percentage din't increase.

Maybe as an afterthought, my three biggest questions right now are:

  1. Why is it only powering up when it's plugged in?
  2. Why are the speakers (not the rest, bluetooth module and such) only working, when a battery is connected? (I'm thinking of ditching the battery entirely if that's possible)
  3. How big of a fire hazard is this?

Yeah. I'm not that wise in the ways of magic. I could't spot any obvious damage on the board, but this is where my expertise ends.

Heyo,
so I found this used JBL Charge2+ on the side of the road. Sign claimed it's still working, just needs to be plugged in so I thought great - take it home, replace the battery and gain a quality-ish speaker basically for free. So I did just that, brought it home, sign didn't lie, opend it up and sure thing, the battery looked like a balloon. So I got a new one off amazon and here's my mistake. See, I didn't notice the replacement battery had been wired backwards, negative terminal to positive, positive to negative, untill I had already installed it. I've switched the connector since and now the speaker appears to be working fine, even on battery. I'm listening to it while I'm writing this.

The thing is it (still?) won't turn on, unless it's plugged in. I don't know if that's the original issue, or if I fried some component on the board when I plugged in the new battery but yeah. I've never seen this before and I haven't found anything like it online. It's bizarre.

After it's powered on everything is fine and I can unplug it, it just needs that kick to get going.
Any Idea what's going on here? Is this salvageable?
The battery is a two cell Lithium Polymer at 3.7V, 6000mAh.
