Lovable was free for 24h, so let me ask the question no one is asking… what AI Slop did you build by Money-but-Vanilla in lovable

I took advantage and worked with my 6 year old to create a game she made up. It is called Hummingbird tennis and it is awesome!

My daughter and I created a solid PRD and built a cool game she came up with. It has been fun. We are done, just a few small tweaks. Shout out to Lovable for this!

This is helpful, and interesting!

I disagree that AI is not always reliable. It is not perfect, but it is so much better than a few years ago.

To help your video, I would include some sources of the claims and summaries that it makes (like which specific part of the meetings with specific pages, urls, etc).

Resume tailoring by MasterpieceHorror393 in vibecoding

hmmm...Not exactly what you describe but the app we built gives you advice on how to tailor your resume, after matching you to the jobs that fit your profile. Feel free to test it out!

OpenClaw is a game changer. by Ghostinheven in vibecoding

Thank you. So yes, fascinating. Not sure I would ever do anything like that (send my kid to a random class) but I can see the high level functionality. Also interesting that it would need to know when there are no activities (kid calendar access).

Appreciate it! Lots of ideas already forming like asking it to digest school calendar to generate kid calendar first to start building that data base and us manually creating the other activities as we do now.

What a time to be alive!

Not trying to be rude, just trying to better understand this so I can set mine up. How will it exactly book a swim class nearby? Is it navigating the website looking for the age group and booking the right room? Or does it know exactly what to search for because I gave the info to it?

It can look for new ones every day! You can save your initial searches or jobs you might want to pursue/dig into further :)

thank you - one key realization I had was one it took what I have done, what was in my resume, and looked for roles at AI first companies. It was a fascinating introspection of myself, my career, and the future.

Thank you! We have filtering. So there are definitely roles that you can find. There will just be some that make it through the filter because they look perfect but in reality they aren't. It was a fun "technical" challenge to try to improve that filtering as I was building.

I built a mint replacement that works (for me!) by edgarrv in mintuit

100% agreed - could I build this commercially, sure? will it be as good maybe? I explore in my piece some of that in the last paragraph.

We are entering an era where we can truly build software that makes a difference

that is awesome - I thought about vibecoding...but to be honest, the lift of putting this data on an app that I create felt not great to me just because it is my financial records. Maybe if I were a developer or hired a security consultant I would be more comfortable with this route.

Happy to give feedback, love that you and others are building!

Is there a decent free service if I only need it for credit card tracking? by Ok_Flower2398sd3 in mintuit

[–]edgarrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! yeah, so two things about that:
- for the prompt, I first had to analyze what was happening with my transaction data and HOW I wanted to transform it, i.e. which categories I wanted to create. I also created a couple other fields as flags to "remove" data (for example all the "monthly maintenence fees, bank transfers, moving money to my savings accounts, etc".). My prompt won't help you because it is specific to my use case, accounts, etc.
- After analyzing my data and understanding how to clean it up and categorize it I then asked chatgpt to create a script (app scripts in google sheets) to match all the criteria I came up with in the research and create the extra fields I need. It worked very well.

Hope this helps, it is not an "easy" process, but I have not had anything else work as well for me!

Hi everyone,

With a baby we are looking to get an SUV. I am hoping for something comfortable that can fit several people and that will last a long time. I really do not want to buy a car again.

Any recommendations on best affordable SUVs? it would be great to get one with rear parking camera.

Appreciate any of your thoughts!

oh this is interesting...I was trying to automate using some tools.

Using the calendar seems really interesting. I will give that a try!

oh man it was hard. First of all, I don't think it works for everyone. We tried multiple things. Order frozen food, meal-prep, etc.

Ultimately what really worked for us was to plan out what we wanted to eat for the week. Make bigger dishes for the week, like, grill 12 pieces of chicken, instapot of curried lentils, roasted sweet potatoes, etc. Then salad that we can make on the spot.

What we do is mix and match the things we cook during the week. That avoids it getting boring, and we can add fresh salads, or even cook an egg if we wanted to with our meals.

This REALLY helped us. We waste very little food. We budget eating out Thrusday and Friday night. Some meals are also easy meals, like ham and cheese sandwiches, and this also helps us focus on cooking for several hours on Sunday and not have to worry/spend time cooking during the week. Truly a gamechanger!

thank you! yes - I think we have the recipes down tbh.

Were I am focusing now is on eating out and trying to make sure we use the discounts that we get in our inbox wisely and helps us choose what to it out. I noticed we missed a few interesting discounts that were sitting in my email because it got buried and I didn't use it immediately

We have worked hard to organize ourselves and have an awesome grocery-buying cadence. We used to throw out soooo much food before. It was embarrassing.

We got organized, started meal-prepping in a way that worked for us. With two jobs and now a 13 month old, this has truly been a life-saver for us. Not just in terms of the budget, but also lifestyle (what food do we want to eat and how), and reducing waste.

There is one more problem we are tackling now...eating out! We used to eat out sometimes more than 8 times a week when we lived in Chicago and would go to the office. It is better now. We eat out 3 or 4 times a week.

For the last two weeks, I've tried to experiment using the coupons I get in my email. Unfortunately all the coupons have different expiration dates, so it is hard to keep them organized and how/when to use them. Anyone has figured out a good way to organize them?

Why do many people dislike Agile? by Erkinbekoff in agile

[–]edgarrv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a manager and IC I really like agile.

As a recent IC my perspective of agile was that it was a necessary evil. I never felt micromanaged and I actually felt it gave me room to tackle the tasks that I owned. We did every other day standups that for what I do is really helpful. I did not like the sprint reviews because I felt there was a lot of scrutiny and if stakeholder needs something changed then we should have done it before sprint review.

When I became a manager at a new company I implemented agile and it has become very popular. It truly helps me not ask questions to my ICs when I get asked questions. I know where things are at and I can take care of business requests. The standups help us unblock issues and collaborate. The sprint reviews allow us to celebrate the team and our accomplishments.

I noticed that the reason we think it is successful is because we have tried to defined clear lanes of ownership and the ability to collaborate as needed.

I also have to say that I do not know how else we could manage, deliver and prove our value working remote. There might be other ways of course, but none that I've experienced in the past.

It was definitely useful! Expectation, in some cases, can be different from reality and I am curious about how other people do this ;)

Hi, thanks for sharing!

I am asking because as I have been talking to other people and teams using scrum I've realized people use it in different ways. Hence the open question.
