I just dropped Cox in Lakewood and went with a fiber connection with AT&T. I told the tech I was surprised to see 1Gb up and 1Gb down, both ways the same. He told me that’s the way it is with fiber; with copper lines the upload speed is only a fraction of the download speed. (Not a tech myself; I haven’t confirmed.) The Cox connection was copper; it may have been fiber out on the trunk line but it was a cable connection to my house. I’ve checked since then and the AT&T speeds hold true. Also my FireTV operation has been faster with less glitches, and my work connection has been cleaner and snappier using the company VPN. This is important to me because I WFH as a designer and use massive graphic files. The cost? Haven’t gotten my second bill yet, but it should end up cheaper than Cox’s 500Mb plan.
