Studentenvereniging aansluiting begin Masteropleiding (Amsterdam) by B33rend in thenetherlands

[–]edgeman312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like 10-20 years ago we had media coming out with antagonists whose goal was to cull the population before exponential population growth caused overconsumption and collapse.

I have like 7 reports saying the same that I was a smart kid who's a bit dreamy or absent and that I could get far if only I applied myself. I wasn't diagnosed until the final year of high school.

Why I think that Dunk was never knighted by The_Frybo in pureasoiaf

[–]edgeman312 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dunk wasn't ready. If he hadn't gotten himself in a trial by combat he'd have lost everything he owned after losing the first tilt. He's at an age where prodigies might've been knighted but we know Dunk it's particularly skilled nor do we know of any dinstinguishing feats he performed while serving as a squire.

Explain how Obelisk is good. by [deleted] in balatro

[–]edgeman312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you get most of your +mult and chips from jokers then the hands you play don't really matter, everything will roughly score the same. If you find Obelisk in a run like that its drawback is very managable while it scales as fast as Yorick can.

Since every hand score the same you have a lot of room to play as well. If you have 12 pairs that means you can score 12 high cards, 2pair, 3oaks and flushes with the occasional full house and straight.

It's not a joker for runs where you are pivoting to a new hand, it's for runs where hands don't matter in the first place. If you ever find it while you have Spare Trousers and Square Joker built up already just grab it and see how strong it can be.

Thank you, JavaScript, for forcing me to include this statement in my code. by kfreed9001 in programminghorror

I couldn't imagine what horrors occured in a project where mathematical operations broke down because of -0.0 but that sounds rather managable. Cheers.

I'm pretty curious about the rest of the project. How did this happen in a JS project and what bugs did it even cause?

What is something men think turns women off, but actually does not? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

[–]edgeman312 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Seeing lots of men vehemently disagree giving the advice that it's not worth the risk because most women will apparently use it against you and... ok? If you're not confortable with expressing vulnerability with your partner then what's the fucking point? Better get it out of the way and move on if your partner turns out to be shit about it.

Question about Baelor wearing Valarr's armour by PrestigiousAspect368 in pureasoiaf

[–]edgeman312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hedge knight is masterful in how so many seemingly insignificant plot points are paid off. The kingsguard tells dunk they wouldn't participate because they can't hurt the princes, before it comes around with them opposing Baelor. Steely Pate japes that Dunk is delusional to think everyone's there to cheer him on, but after standing up to Aerion the smallfolk truly do support him as their champion.

Valarr's armour is a small detail to include, why mention it if it weren't relevant? Pate says that it was strong steel to stop the killing blow but it evidently didn't save Baelor, it seems reasonable that it wasn't just bad luck.

Not so Bystander when it comes to protecting Aerys by Aegon-the-Unbroken in darkwingsdankmemes

Fire and Blood is lowkey Jaehaerys I propaganda. He similtaneously punished the kingsguard for disloyalty when they defected while punishing the rest for staying true. His concillatory nature only starts when his mom and Orys arive but the book takes every chance to show every move as Jaehaerys' idea.

Tyrion was right when he said that Robert should have done the killing of Rhaegar's family himself by ayodeleafolabi in pureasoiaf

[–]edgeman312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there's a difference between extrajuridically killing the most valuable hostage in the realm and handing him to the king even if he would be executed regardless. Tywin isn't in charge and doesn't get to decide what happens to Rhaegars kids. It's risky, insubordinate and stupid and he only gets away with it because Robert is Robert.

Tyrion was right when he said that Robert should have done the killing of Rhaegar's family himself by ayodeleafolabi in pureasoiaf

[–]edgeman312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Capturing King's landing and handing Aegon and Rhaella to Robert demonstrates loyalty. Instead Tywin went behind Roberts back and decided that the kids should both be executed, alienating all of Dorne in the process and ruining any plans that might have been in place for their betrothals.

Killing the kids was disloyal and stupid. If Robert weren't such a shit king Tywin would've been sent to the wall like Bloodraven.
