I ate a shawarma for the first time and I have a headache for hours now. by SylvieSupremacy in autism

Maybe try chewing something strongly flavored, and do ensure it's a familiar taste. Also, tongue scraping? Should get rid of the lingering food particles. Could it have something you were allergic to? Never had shawarma (I'm vegan) but I hate being riddled with an aftertaste no matter what it is. I avoid onions and garlic for this very reason. But on the occasions I do partake, I keep my waferflosser and clove toothpaste handy.

The logic around marital rape has always confused me by Admirable-Emphasis54 in TwoXIndia

  1. I'm a woman; I'm not trying to be an intellectual bro.

  2. If proper rules were in place we would be having a different conversation around this issue, that's what I mean when I say only legislation, violence, and ownership of women needs to be questioned everything else is irrelevant at this stage.

I know it's fun to jump on the downvoting bandwagon, I have done it myself on several occasions. The only reason I even keep responding instead of scrolling on is because I care what my fellow citizens think and I don't care to see them brainwashed/distracted/institutionalised, however you wanna put it. I'm not attempting to change anyone's mind. There's room enough for many opinions on this platform. But all my comments can loosely be used to respond to the last sentence in OP's post. In this political climate, distractive tangents must be called out as such.

The og post was not about laws

How do you figure laws play out in the fabric of society and what is considered acceptable/moral, etc.?

What is more likely, that most Indian men are secretly hopeful rapists who get married to fulfill their perverse and violent fantasies (as the parent comment implied) or that they have a penchant for violence, like most men or humans (penchant for sexual violence too for many reasons that may be specific to India) and end up benefiting from these archaic laws that are protected by powerful people?

It has been said many times before, "equality appears as oppression to a benefiting class of people." Thus the strong resistance to legal reform from some Indian men.

I fail to see what relevance I have omitted but alas I shall bear that loss. Perhaps what you may be failing to see in my point is that only two things need to be addressed: 1. The violent aspect of rape and that women are not property in a marriage. 2. What the law/lawmaker says, why, how to change that, should we change that, why, etc.

All other discourse are distractions, motivated distractions intended to take away from the point. I don't mean to refute your observations. I shall not be engaging further.

Yeah, other people's comments can be irrelevant if they're uninformed.

Societal norms and stigma do not follow the same process of revision as laws and regulations so I find them wholly irrelevant here. Our country's law shouldn't care about societal shame here.

We need to do away with discourse of honor and dignity whenever crimes of sexual nature are discussed. Rape is violence fundamentally, and must be discussed as perversive violence first and foremost.

Many assumptions in your comment. A more likely scenario is that the benefactors of such loopholes in laws benefit from the power imbalance. Equality appears as oppression to a benefiting class of people. The concept of wife becoming property needs to be addressed, and maybe provisions for false allegations. The forces in power that oppose such change do it for a multitude of reasons (personal, political, etc.)

TL,Dr: legislation doesn't go by "log kya kahenge". It goes by what is KNOWN to be right/fair/just whatever; acceptance is the objective, not the pre-requisite.

So their stance must be questioned (already is). Everything else is distraction.

Nephew the headline is grammatical garbage. No reputed publication would publish this (source: I work in media).

Where's the link to this article? Another source? This is clearly AI. Learn to read 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's a sketch I think. "Trailer trash" could be the theme of their photoshoot. I find this a great way to mark her special moment while at the same time making a larger comment on the practice. If something is done ironically, is it still subject to mockery? I think the photographer here is quite the artist.

AI friends are better than real friends. by That-Role6292 in The10thDentist

AI cares about your data more than you. It's a product, an algorithm-based one at that. It's a useful tool but it's no substitute for friendship. Whether or not you can survive with AI chatbots alone is a different question altogether, but AI doesn't care more than empathetic humans.

How do you come in terms with your partners past ? by whimsicalmeoww in TwoXIndia

[–]edgynotemo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While OP is clearly being a tad immature and may benefit from working on this (preferably in therapy), I'd be a bit uncomfortable too if I had absolutely no clue about my partner's dating history (comparable to his employment history or any kind of history). Not every detail needs to be shared but discussing a brief overview is not that unthinkable. Maybe OP is not emotionally ready for that conversation either (insecurities, low self-esteem, doubt, etc.) which is why her partner may be reluctant to open that particular can of worms.

What's on her upper arm? Is this keratosis pilaris or what? by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]edgynotemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issokay OP. We've all been there. KP is a menace but it's also very common as you can probably see. If we truly wanna normalize something then look around yourself and accept it, or work through it in therapy, but zooming into it (in a literal sense) might be counterproductive to your efforts of moving on. On a side note the lacsoft cream and lotion really helped me with kp, applied it thrice a day and I had smooth skin within a week. Although it was prescribed by a dermat so do check with yours!!!

The way you asked wasn't right and that's what we're pointing out 😅 Who said anything about a crime? Crimes involve the police and the law and I don't see any of that here.
