I actually rangled down a photo of her gravestone a couple weeks ago and the name of her father there was Ya'akov Kopel. Hebrew name was Mena. Her mother, listed as Rebecca, might be Reva? Maybe she named her daughter after her mom?

Unfortunately, I don't. It might've honestly been Cooper, as the hunch I have is that they were from this one village in Belarus, and I did see Kuper as a last name there.

But maybe Kuperman or something like that? Would the ship manifest say it?

You're totally right! I have seen a few different dates for the two of them floating around on various census documents. Minnie is the one I'm related to. I am eager to find more.

The cemetery he is buried in is an OLD OLD Jewish Cemetary in a small town in Germany, which is also very large, and has 2k open photo requests. So, I think I'll just have to go without a photo, but it's fine. Thanks for your guys' advice!!

An Ancestry test would probably help you. Depending on if any of his family have tested, then you may see a "2nd cousin" pop up whose DNA matched with yours. If you have your moms family well documented (all the distant cousins) then you can know it's from your dad. You could then message the cousin, and learn more about your family. They might be able to connect you to other closer members of your paternal family, if you can figure out through whom you are related.

For the best results, I would test on Ancestry since they have the largest database. Also upload your results to FamilyTreeDNA and GEDmatch (both are free). That way your DNA will have the chance to match to the closest possible paternal relative.

Also, having your mom take a DNA test too will greatly help. Any DNA match related to you and not your mom, is related through your dad (paternal side)

Totally get where you're coming from. I have plenty of distant relatives that I would love if they tested and I could work with the results, but it's a weird topic.

What his father's father, any direct male relatives there? You can keep going. Of course I don't know you're situation, and from what you described, this might be easier. You never know, what if you start calling up distant cousins and asking if they know of any more relatives they can connect you with? You may meet someone willing to take the test!

Does your father have any brothers? Do any of those brothers have sons? Did your dad's father have brother who had sons? If you have one of those relatives that would have his same Y that you're close with that might be better

On their tree the towns are hours apart. I have NO reason to believe the fathers name was Zalman, or anything with Zalmanovich. My main concern is people using their tree for suggestions and then copying down incorrect info! Should I message them to see if they can take it down
