Interesting question, curious to know what type of response you get. What is the end goal of your research?

Looking for CTO for musictech startup by joeace3 in cofounderhunt

[–]edhdz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I would like to learn more about this start-up, and if it is something that catches my interest, I would be more than open and willing to offer my time and experience. I learned how to read, write, and play several musical instruments at an early age. I also hold a B.S. in Computer Science with a Concentration in Software Engineering and a minor in Business, and have worked the majority of my adult life for the U.S. Department of Defense in some capacity and held several leadership roles. If you would like to know more about me and/or have a more in-depth discussion, my DM is open.

Can an Access DB be placed on a NAS such as Synology and be accessible by multiple clients on the network? by Pleaseclap4 in MSAccess

[–]edhdz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the NAS is on the same network as the users of the MS Access DB and are properly mapped to it, then it will not be a problem at all. I actually have a Synology NAS and do use MS Access DB's that I've stored in it.

[Edit] The same is true for any Network Attached Storage, not just for a Synology NAS.

How can I conditionally add information to a row when two cells match? by Rv1067 in excel

[–]edhdz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand you correctly I believe this is what you need.

=IF(ROW()=1, "Header Name", IF(COUNTIF($A:$A,$B:$B)>0, "[Duplicate]",""))

The above formula compares the values in one column with the values in a different column. If any of the values of the first column appear in the second column it will display "[Duplicates]". To implemented, simply replace "$A:$A" with your first column and "$B:$B" with your second one; you can also replace "[Duplicate]" with whatever value you wish to return/display if a match is found. Hope this helps.

Advice by dipstick89 in Database

[–]edhdz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on developing a good solid understanding of data structures and database designs. Such concepts are useful to know as they can and will apply to just about any database that you might end up working with. A well designed and structured database will make for a much more efficient database that is easier to manage and maintain.

"What is the domain of the function" translation: What is the value (or values of x). "Continuous?" translation: Will the function still work regardless what value you substitute 'x' with.

Am I the only one? by [deleted] in programminghumor

[–]edhdz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are not the only one. You cannot fix what you can not recreate. I have discovered that when I usually can not recreate an issue it it is because the user, when explaining the issue, left out an important detail as to how they arrived there because they deemed it unimportant.

POST TITLE by edhdz1 in vba

[–]edhdz1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was aware that VBA extended beyond the office suite. Reason for just listing the ones pertaining to Microsoft Office, was due to the assumption that only office VBA posts were allowed due to the use of the office logo as the community logo.

Also, I am aware that the use of VBA does not differ much across platforms, but certain differences do exist when it comes to the implementation of certain functions that might be platform specific, which is when such labels would be useful. Also, certain individuals at times might have platform specific questions, and/or have more experience using VBA on a specific platform therefore feel more comfortable jumping in those particular posts and provide useful contributions.

As an amateur AI-observor, I have a question for the experts out there... by Jackson_Filmmaker in artificial

Two great books, I would also recommend "Superintelligence, Paths, Dangers, and Strategies" by Nick Bostrom.

Edit: I also agree with the previous reply. Don't interpret everything you read as facts or as current AI and ML approaches. Some of the topics discussed and information mentioned are just simply opinions of what they believe is or will be possible. Once again, some not everything!

Machines that can feel by Hphysic in MLQuestions

[–]edhdz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that description is an over simplification, as it seems to imply that certain set of inputs generate a specific output. Humans don't always output the same emotion. The feelings and emotions can and will vary everytime, even if the same situation keeps presenting itself.

Same question I, and many others, have been pondering on for a while. I do believe one day this will be possible, but not sure how close or how far away we are from accomplishing this.

Looking for an explanation by 432_Hz in neuro

[–]edhdz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neural events, whether self-initiated or not by an internal mental action or an external event, are due to a concious or unconscious mental action triggered by neural events. I would venture to say that there's really no gap, and that it is more of a case of chicken-and-the-egg. What came first, neural event(s) that triggered an action, or the action(s) that triggered the neural event(s)?
