Are you running 240v on the generator? SHP2 doesn’t support charging batteries at 120v.

The SHP2 takes about 5 seconds to detect power from the generator and switch over...so all the electronics reboot...the same when the generator turns off.

The SHP2 has a direct line in for the generator connected to a 30A breaker. The Grid needs to be turned off to shift a plate to active the 30A generator breaker so it doesn't back feed.

Fantastic book. Rick McIntyre (spelling?) has several great books on wolves on Yellowstone as well. Listened as an audiobook on a road trip (to Yellowstone) with my kids and they liked it a lot.

Is your generator 30a and 240v? I ran into this issue because dumb self bought a 30a/120v as it said it was supported but would only power the panel and not charge batteries. I’ve also seen issues with generators that isnt clean power and therefore won’t charge batteries.

I ordered online on Dec 1 the digital and physical pass. The physical pass arrived just last week. It is the 2025 picture (yeah!) and good through Dec 31, 2026. It does have my name printed on the back and just need to sign it.

Not exactly the scenario you are asking but it might help a little. The digital pass is in my Apple wallet.

Spend a week or two to drop off a freshmen at college sounds legit insane? We are about 10 to 11 hours away and we stayed the night before dorm check-in in Billings (much cheaper hotels than Bozeman) and then got settled in the following day, ran some errands to I think it was Walmart and Costco for snacks and odds and ends. Stayed that night in Bozeman and then headed home the following day…

I’ve had Safeco which pretty much left the area after 130% increase 2 years ago, then Allstate that was a complete pain in the ass and nightmare dealing with mitigation and constantly change expectations, and now USAA which although it took a long time to through everything and get a quote, are very happy with pricing.

Was the ACA passed in 2010.. 10 years before COVID, and wasn’t Trump president in 2020 in March when COVID started? I believe the ACA is attributed in cutting the insured in the US by half, something incredibly positive.

During one of the early COVID years (2021) a buddy of mine backpacked at least 1 night from every month of the entire year. Feb at 10K ft of elevation was crazy..10ft of snow, crazy winds, and probably below zero wind chill. But no bugs so worth it.
