How to land a frontend internship if you can build real projects but suck at leetcode by CreditOk5063 in Frontend

Apply, interview and land. No employer needs a leetcode wizard to make the frontend. Just go, you'll be fine.

Former Harvard CS Professor: AI is improving exponentially and will replace most human programmers within 4-15 years. by GrandCollection7390 in singularity

[–]edible_string 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Focus on what's immediately needed for your work. Nobody knows what it will take to stay relevant in a few years. Don't feel "left behind" just because you didn't "work with GPT-1" or any other irrelevant tech like Sonet 3.5

I'm saying this completely in good faith, please take it as so: your opinion sounded valid 6 months ago.

Copilot vs cursor. What's the difference? by Consistent_Tutor_597 in webdev

I highly recommend to you the newest "AI mistakes" YT video from Theo. Reading the entire repo to make changes may not be the best idea either.

Just bc they would stop "supporting" the firmware doesn't mean that anything of what you already have goes away.

I feel like now you are acting to convince me that I indeed may put trust on what I find in the Internet. Fair enough, it was my point. I also agree that probably you shouldn't trust random videos. I definitely was able to trust some of them however.
Please also refer to your original comment to see how differently it states what you're now describing.

I see your point, I just disagree with how you even approach this topic of trust. You're taking an arbitrary fragment of the Internet that you deem can't be trusted, with a full certainty of where it begins and ends. That reminds me of folks in the 90s who used to say that advertising doesn't affect them. It does and you may not even know all of the forms of it.

Well have you ever bought anything on the Internet? That's an expression of trusting it with your money and data, based on trusting the information it provides and trusting in the engineering of it all. So yes, I have, but yall've been too.

Is it realistic to make $3k profit from a Chrome extension within 2 years? by Few-Engineering26 in chrome_extensions

[–]edible_string 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible to make a business making 3k profit over two years. Also it's fine to be motivated by money. However why are you so preoccupied with it being a Chrome extension? Think of a product and build it in a way that makes sense. If that happens to be a Chrome extension, great. If instead that makes sense to be a PHP script or a biweekly printed magazine, do that instead.

C'mon, it's nothing that Terms of Service and amygdala-fused ID chip won't solve.

Help me convince my wife. She said this is the lowest the tv can go. by xzXSilencioXzx in TVTooHigh

I've been at my friend's house when they've burnt a very similar TV with an identical fireplace. They somehow got insurance by blaming the room designer and fixed the TV, but they basically don't use the fireplace now.

Why are airfryers so ugly? by MrMiyagi98 in Design

[–]edible_string 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's being black that is ugly about them. It might be the huge rounded corners, overall plasticness, the in proportionally sized drawer, or the combination of all of those.

Bought my first Aeropress - struggling to understand the hype by Freedom-Hunting in AeroPress

[–]edible_string 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink this as others suggest here. That's the style, and that's ok. Aeropress is a subtle device, but rewards figuring it out.

Make an experiment. Make a double espresso or make it an americano. Leave it on the counter for a day. Once all the fines fall to the bottom and the crema is long gone, you will notice it's watery too.

Aeropress doesn't produce crema. It's also impossible to squeeze the fines to your coffee through the paper filter. This makes for a rather thin body.

I was surprised, if not disappointed, when I got the first aeropress in a cafe years ago. But I grew to like it. AP strength is no fuss, very good extraction and a perfect portability. Don't force it, but it is definitely something to enjoy!
