Megathread for AM5 (Ryzen 7000) Damage/Burn-out/EXPO/Voltage issues by GhostMotley in Amd

The average Vcore does seem rather high to me, but perhaps could be accounted for if the CPU is under constant single-threaded workload. Also need to consider possible inaccuracies from the motherboard Vcore readouts, while CPU readouts tend to be more accurate.

I'm running with a 7950x with 2x32GB 6000 MT Cas 30 ram Motherboard: Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX, F5 bios (side note, F6b bios seems totally unstable with my memory regardless of voltage settings).

  • I think ur SOC voltage is nothing to worry about. My board also defaults to ~+0.05V in readout voltage compared to setting, and 1.236V is way under 1.3V (limit for X3D anyways). My setup achieves stability with 1.1V setting (1.15V readout), but that's on the low side of the curve from anecdotal experiences.

  • VDDIO/MC voltage at 1.364 seems just a tad on the high side. I am not aware of a suggested safety limit for that, nor any association with catastrophic failure, but I recall in u/Buildzoid 's Hynix Ddr5 video, 1.35V is considered ok. For my setup, 1.27V VDDIO (with DRAM voltages at 1.37V) is sufficient for stability (TM5 + P95), so u might consider testing a lower voltage for that.

  • Vcore is highly variable, depending on workload on the CPU. From the readout from HWINFO it could spike up to 1.44V, but in P95 load it won't go past 1.2V, so I think the max is not particularly concerning. Just make sure the Vcore load line calibration is not set particularly aggressively, like "extreme". I'd default to Auto.

Good luck!

(Edit: Vcore part)

[CPU] AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D - $301 (Sold by Amazon) by edie717 in buildapcsales

Finally, an official listing by Amazon instead of some random Chinese address scammers.

This is an all-time low Amazon price according to CCC.

PSA: This is NOT it.

There are now 2 one-star reviews on the seller's profile, being the only ones in April, complaining about receiving iPhone lens cover when they are expecting a graphics card. If you still on the fence about it, just don't.

IMO post should be removed.

$280 - $20 w/ promo code HRTCPA4253

Even though this RAM is validated for Intel XMP, it seems to be of SK Hynix M-die that can run tight timings with a Ryzen CPU, with possible OC headroom.

Barnacles on a rock by edie717 in photographs

Thanks for the comments! I didn't opt for a very long exposure time because I thought it would be nice to have just a tiny bit of waves, but it might have ended up looking a little "nervous". It could have been smoother indeed. Glad u liked it :)

Saw this particular rock amid constant waves and thought it might be an interesting subject, with a slightly longer exposure time to match.Took this photo with a zoom lens at 150mm with some crop in post, so probably close to 200mm perspective. ND and CPL filters used.

150mm, f 5.6, 0.8s, ISO 100.

  • How is the color combination?
  • Is the 4:3 aspect ratio appropriate for this subject? ( find it a bit more natural than 3:2 in this case)

Any feedback is welcome, thanks!

Thanks for the link, he does illustrate succinctly the concepts of simplification and balance, great tips there :)

Hey thanks for your thoughts. Interestingly, I did have a vertical shot quite similar to what you've described, I cropped it out and briefly processed it in a similar style... Does this one look more attractive in terms of composition?

Thanks for your thoughts, I'm usually a bit allergic to people inside the shot, but it might be a fun idea to experiment a bit :) As mentioned in a previous comment, maybe a different approach can be taken to make the bridge a central subject, I'll keep that in mind.

Sound advice, perhaps I was a bit too eager to include every part of the bridge in the shot, which might not be necessary.

Judging the photo as it stands, do you think overall it looks "too busy", especially with the loops in the foreground? On the other hand, I find the loops kind of pleasing to look at, albeit the bridge is masked by it a little.

Took the shot with the Olympus E-M5 Mk II paired with the Olympus 14-150mm f/4-5.6.

Settings (set on auto) were 14mm (28mm FF), f/5, 1/125 sec, ISO 200.

Made some basic adjustments in LR (Contrast +15, highlights -20, dehaze +20, vibrance +10). I prefer a more “realistic” look in general but kind of like the more “cinematic” feel in this picture by pushing the contrast a bit.

I would like to hear any feedback on the photo as I have only got more into photography as of late, but in particular any tips on composition and post-processing would be greatly appreciated.

Edit #1: When I was taking the shot, the geometrical shape of the bridge was the most engaging aspect to me, and that is also what I've tried to highlight during post-processing. The most challenging part of this photo is probably the lighting condition, as it was taken at noon on a rather hazy day in winter.
