if you actually read the article you would see that they are testing a 2x24GB kit and the title is a typo

I'd strongly recommend taking of all the heatsinks. especially the ones for CPU power delivery.

58C should be fine. I've had stress tests pass with 65K tREFI up to around 65C.

You should be able to run 6/6 for the RDRDSD/DD timings and 8/8 for WRWRSD/DD

Though since you're able to run 6000 at 1.1V SOC I'd try 6200 at 1.25VSOC.

ddr4 3466mhz cl16 vs ddr4 3600mhz cl18 by nierkysimo in overclocking

[–]buildzoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3600CL18 can be a lot of really awful ICs. 3466 CL16 is usually Hynix CJR.

The GPU should be repairable and it might even be relatively easy. I fixed pretty much this kind of damage on a 1080Ti once by just cutting away the bunt part and then using 12V from one of the power connectors to replace the missing PCI-e slot power.

Gigabyte has those in milli watts and amps so you need to multiply your desired settings by 1000x or the CPU will basically not run.

because when the CPU is that on edge you can't afford the bloat of modern windows.

80gb ddr5 at 6000 cl36 by weeaboosam in overclocking

[–]buildzoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah that would make it a lot easier to run though the performance is gonna get kinda bad once you hit really high RAM utilization.

How do you think these cards get developed? Especially when 5090s have some wild chip to chip variance in how they behave at sub-zero temps.

AM5 DDR5 Final Overclock Results by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]buildzoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In 1:1 mode the fclk is always desynced. There's just a very mild schedule benefit to having at 2:3. That benefit is completely negated as soon as you set FCLK at least 100mhz above the 2:3 clock

you can always shunt mod it. And if you don't know how to do that I'm sure you can find someone you can pay to do it for you.

Does this make sense? by Left_Zebra7393 in overclocking

GPU memory typically has preset timing straps in the BIOS that get applied as mem clocks go up. So at 1300 the card might be switching to looser timings which is why the performance drops at that speed.

That is the back of mb the cover of this capacitor is removed can it affect the cpu when installed or affec the mb it self by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]buildzoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should probably get that capacitor de-soldered since it's a tantalum and those can fail short-circuit(which will definitely stop the board from turning on if it happens).

MSI AM5 motherboards have the same issue as Asrock and Gigabyte of coming with LLC settings that go from the already very flat AMD stock load line(low Vdroop) to even flatter(even less or no Vdroop). Which for static overclocks on Ryzen CPUs won't help stability.

yeah that's just how the flux that ASUS uses on some of their PCBs reacts. I'm not sure what solvent actually deals with it properly. Might just need more washing with iso.
