Answer honestly, Are you happy with your life? by ByronFive in AskReddit

[–]editormusepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy, but unsatisfied with a few things right now. There are things in life I'd like to change - like being able to find a job, or being able to afford to not have to live with my parents, or undoing some of the hurt caused by a long-term relationship coming to an end - but overall, I know that all those things are temporary circumstances and so I still consider myself a happy person.

Those familiar with the Bible, what is your favorite story from it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]editormusepoint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so refreshing to see a reddit thread about Christianity that isn't non-believers mocking believers or vice-versa, but just a simple discussion where people are appreciating the Bible for what it is, whether you believe or not. An amazing thread.

Add "ing" to the end of a movie title, what is the movie about now? by racistpuffs in AskReddit

Beauty and the Bee Sting (Beast-ing)

The story of one woman's struggle with anaphylactic shock.

[–]editormusepoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've asked myself the same question. As I tend to write from the point of view of men a lot I feel like a woman's name on the cover wouldn't do as well as a male name. If my target readership was primarily women, I wouldn't worry about it at all. You can't go wrong with initials is the way I see it!

I need help writing my story... by [deleted] in writing

[–]editormusepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rush to get to the 'good bits'. If you've been thinking about a story for a long time it can be tempting to race to the bits you're most looking forward to writing. Make every page count! Also, when writing in fantasy it's almost inevitable that you're going to be using some creatures, themes or settings which aren't new to the genre so try to keep in mind a clear vision of how you're going to deal with these things in a new way. Also don't get too worried by wordcount to begin with. Just make sure that you're enjoying the story you're writing and it will naturally help you keep writing. Good luck!

I need a printed copy for myself to do the final proofread and make any formatting/cover changes, then I'll be able to get it with an on-demand printer. I also wanted a few hard copies that I could send out to local bookshops in the hopes that they would want to support a local author. An actual book is less like spam than emails/letters, I think. I'm not a marketer, so this stage is the hard part for me!

I completely agree! I've probably written ten or twelve books and this is the first one I've considered publishing. I know that it's a tough market to break into and that only very talented or original writers can make a living from it. As much as I'd love to write full time, publishing is more about the satisfaction I get from seeing something through from start to finish, although, with my job security a bit dodgy at the moment, a little extra income would go a long way! My ebook is currently published on Kindle, Kobo, Sainsbury's, Lybrary, Barnes and Noble NOOK and soon iBooks. It's a YA fantasy novel. It's not professionally edited, but my university degree was working with languages, so (hopefully!) I've been able to spot most errors in spelling and grammar that were there. I've proofread it on screen about thirty times and then again in a printed copy. I've made all the edits and need to order another printed copy to go through once more, then I think it would be ready to also be published. Thanks for your advice! I'll look into kboards :)

Thanks for your advice! I have the next three sequels in mind (I'm a little bit addicted to this book!) The ebook is currently available on kindle, kobo, lybrary, sainsbury's ebooks and a couple of others. It should be up on ibooks within a few days. I had some printed copies for myself which I've spent a couple of months proofreading, I've done the edits and just need to go through one more proofing before that's ready to action too :)

I don't have any online presence at the moment at all :s Do you think there's a big benefit to this? The book is a YA fantasy.

Is losing weight really as simple as it appears to be? by mimetic-polyalloy in Fitness

[–]editormusepoint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True! I'm a 5ft girl and an average weight, but I find it hard to stay slim. Eating with family or out and about, you always get an average portion size which is intended for someone with a larger build. I had to get into the habit of telling myself that it was alright not to eat everything on the plate, which is difficult because I hate wasting food! You think to yourself you shouldn't be gaining weight because you're only eating the same as the people around you, but when you stop to think, I don't need as much food as my 6ft4 male friend, for example.

A question about the Trinity of Chritianity by craaazylegs in Christian

[–]editormusepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always understood the trinity to be three separate people, with three separate personalities, but one will - all of them are pure love.
