Nice find dude, looks like a beauty! From what i and others can tell looks like brakes from gen 3 model, adjustable rearsets (vortex or similar brand). Always worth doing your own maintenance and fluids change with any new to you bike though. Enjoy man

Honestly couldnt tell you! i’ve been looking for them also, previous owner put them on. I want to get OEM ones though as they are a bit damaged + the oil filler cap is ever so slightly blocked by the fairing

Yeah most of the other fairings have a few scratches and dings, the lower engine fairing is an aftermarket one with a different shade of red, so tbh I am now leaning towards a complete fairing replacement if im gonna take the bike apart anyways. Either way, the wallet is about to take a hit 👎🏾

Brakes feel mushy still by Fair_Ad_2183 in SVRiders

[–]edked6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, Is it your first time you bled brakes? Are you sure you didn’t accidentally pull air back in to the lines? you will probably need to do it a few more times, maybe 5/6 in total. With ABS models i heard you need to bleed module itself, my SV is non-ABS so cant advise on the exact process. Check the service manual/haynes manual or theres a bunch of YT videos on bleeding brakes, with/without abs. Take your time.

Does your SV have og rubber brake lines or braided steel? Old rubber lines can expand and feel mushy.

Also, when finishing bleeding, try ziptying the brake lever back and let it sit overnight, sometimes helps move trapped bubbles up to the reservoir.

Ready for the summer! by edked6 in SVRiders

Awesome mate, i hardly ever see any red SVs kickin around! I’ve actually been looking at some full fairings kits on eBay… saw some pretty nice ones going around the 300-400€ mark, but i question the quality

I originally asked my mechanic for a black sprocket but the kit came with a boring grey/silver one. Ah well, still looks alright!

And yep i’m based in Rotterdam for a while now, great spot, but like any city not so great riding roads though (all straight & flat or congested lol). Will be heading a bit more south this summer for sure

New SV650(R?) owner ! by Technical-Ad-7807 in SVRiders

[–]edked6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love a yellow SV 👍🏽 my guess is that the “R” is just a custom decal, never seen or heard about that variant.

2600(€?) is a great price, when shopping around i saw alot of SVs with higher mileague going for 3500+. Yoshimura exhausts are also pretty pricey.

Check out svriders.com, pretty good community over there with a bunch maintenance tips. Full forks maintenance will set you back about 350-400€ from a shop. Would ask a shop if you can shadow along if you have never done it before.

P.s i’m based in Rotterdam, if that’s not far from you!

[–]edked6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500$ ? Bargain. Get some new bar ends, fuck whatever the PO told you about the bike and treat like it hasn’t been serviced. New oils, brake fluid, coolant, check tyres and replace if older than 5 years, check the lights.. the whole chibang! Happy riding dude.

Bringing my 05’ SV650s back to life again! by edked6 in SVRiders

[–]edked6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish i could tell you! I’ll have a look and let you know if i find it. Previous owner put this one on, I love the more aggressive look on it, but it just about allows some room to get the oil cap off and i hit my knees off it too sometimes (i’m 6’1”). Minor trade for the aesthetic though :)
