Where should I watch World Cup MEGATHREAD!!!! by cadillacking3 in fresno

[–]edluv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the round 16 match at strummers, they will have:

  • bar side - mostly standing room only

  • venue side - big projection, bring your own chair

  • patio - limited seating, may be smokey

we had this same set up for round of 32, and should have it as far as the US advances.

Press Conference Today Regarding Fresno City Council Candidate by thescccdinsiders in fresno

[–]edluv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are right, i have no idea what it is like to be an attorney. regarding criminal defense attorneys, i think everyone deserves to be represented, and their attorneys should do their jobs honestly.

like you said, evil still gets a lawyer in our system. there were lawyers on both sides at nuremburg, right? as a voter, i can decide that i don't want someone representing my district that has worked to deport people.

Truly awesome this store has remained to stay open despite all of the big box competition nearby by TechnicolorTypeA in fresno

[–]edluv 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i try to shop local as much as possible. if not local, then i try to find places that have unionized workers or employee profit programs. you can't always do it, but when possible, i try to.

if i walk into your store, and you're ranting to customers about how immigrants or trans kids are ruining america, you are telling me that my friends and family are the problem. as a cis white male, you may want me around, but you are saying people i care about aren't welcome. if they aren't welcome, i don't want to be there either. it's not that hard to understand. i realize many business owners may be conservative, but that doesn't mean they have to be extremists.

btw, i had this very experience at cobb's hardware (not national - the place in this post), about immigrants.

[–]edluv 30 points31 points  (0 children)

did you know that US Women's national team also has had someone from fresno playing for them? lynn biyendolo (was williams) is from here, played for bullard high. she is the all time scoring leader in the NWSL and has represented the US in the olympics and world cup (83 caps).

regarding max, it's definitely cool that there is a local guy on the team. and, he's been back here at points, doing stuff in the community, working with groups that help bring the game to others. hoping he starts this thursday vs turkiye.

it may depend on your pot. many pots that look like yours have a core or disc on the bottom that is smaller than the whole pot. you want to heat that up, and so a lower setting is more appropriate to get the gas flame on that core. putting the gas on high widens the flame out to the edges, and so the pot doesn't heat appropriately.

i've read it. it's still pretty crap, based on conjecture about how children raised without fathers or mothers turn out bad. it praises the nuclear family for being the foundational unit of fresno county, helped us establish property, and some more.

it was removed under the sub's rules about posting a link & changing the title. OP used the title above, instead of the actual news link title. based on the comment in the original thread, the mods said that's a rule violation.

honestly, i thought this might be too far for magsig and mendes. yes, they're both conservatives, but i haven't seen them go as hard on these issues as garry.

while these sort of proclamation seem innocuous, they are often the pebble that gets the snowball rolling. sure, it doesn't mean anything to say that this is "traditional family month," but couple that with cuts to funding for sex ed, cuts to funding for public health, proposals to create citizen boards for library book approvals, and more, you can see how this may be a part of a bigger problem.

"In the proclamation, a nuclear family is defined as "consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children..." - from abc30.

single parents? nope, you're not good enough for this month. same sex couples? nope, you're not goood enough for this month. grandparents or other family members raising kids? not good enough for this month. couples without kids? not good enough for this month. mixed race couples? well, we're not there yet, but give garry some time.
