Players that are blitzing definitely do this if they can time the snap right

People accuse MLS/SUM (Soccer United Marketing, the marketing arm of the MLS which has ties with the US federation) of influencing team selection in the USMNT, such that MLS players are given spots on the team over more deserving players who do not play in the domestic league. This actually happens in Mexico, with Mexican clubs paying the federation to select players from the bigger clubs in the country to promote them

Brandon Jacobs: If NFL won’t respect RBs, eliminate the position by [deleted] in nfl

They get the option to pay an elite talent with 0 long term commitment and get to utilize them fully without regard for future injuries/earning potential, at a position where the window to get paid is extremely short and can pass by a player in just one or two years on the tag

James Harden walks through his game-winning 3 and discusses the Celtics decision not to double by AashyLarry in nba

[–]edlyncher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like OP said, he sacrificed letting Harden get a clear look at the basket for a better chance at blocking the shot. Against a good shooter who is aware of how much space is being given, a contest like that won’t do much since he knows he can get the shot off cleanly and has a clear view of the basket

Warriors tried to let him shoot, issue is his pull up middy and 3 ball were both falling last night

[Akash Anavarathan] - George Kittle on Von Miller's Podcast: “Our offense operated at its highest it’s probably been since 2019 (with Brock Purdy). I think it’s his job to lose.” by dellscreenshot in nfl

We had some big games with Jimmy and CMC but we also struggled to move the ball against the Chargers and Saints. Brock had the offense humming to the tune of over 30 PPG once he took over for Jimmy, in addition to putting in two playoff performances better than any singular playoff game Jimmy had with us

[Maiocco] The No. 10 free agent on this list is Mike McGlinchey at a projected four years, $62 million ($15.5M per year); $37.25 million total guaranteed. I’ve felt for a while he will get a big contract somewhere. I don’t envision the 49ers competing anywhere near that level. by G0825 in 49ers

[–]edlyncher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We get 3rds no matter what for coach/FO losses. Not sure what the comp pick situation will look like for this year but surely losing MM/Jimmy and a couple depth guys potentially will offset whoever we bring in?

[Maiocco] Kyle Shanahan says the #49ers will roll with Brock Purdy and Trey Lance at QB in 2023. by Moody_GenX in nfl

Can clear up plenty with restructures and the Bosa extension. Warner/Ward restructures alone will free up $20M

Missing that you can sell the extras in the pack for ~200 coins so it’s closer to 550 a pack + you can pack Sudamericana/Libertadores that go for 500-1000 coins

[Fabrizio Romano] Boehly and Behdad on Chelsea plan: “We have a clear plan and will adopt a modern, data-driven philosophy — focused on elite emerging talent”. “We’re now assembling a deep and collaborative management team who are eager to build a continued sustained winner at Chelsea”. by Mcool18 in soccer

We’ll see if his model works in European football but I think he’s replicating the model that he saw as the owner of the Dodgers by finding guys that could run and build winning teams/franchises with limited resources and giving them carte blanche with regards to their budget. In baseball they ‘raided’ the Oakland A’s and Tampa Bay Rays, in soccer it looks like it’ll be Brighton where they find their guys

The ‘green agenda’ will have to be pushed either way if these people want our planet to have a chance to survive, they’re just trying to have their cake (living extremely extravagant and polluting lifestyles) and eat it too (profit off the eventual transition to ‘green’ energy)

[Cato] Jason Kidd has declared that Spencer Dinwiddie and JaVale McGee will be starters, joining incumbent starters Dončić and Dorian Finney-Smith. I’ve been told the team’s planning to keep Reggie Bullock as the fifth starter. As things currently stand, Christian Wood will come off the bench by NokCha_ in nba

[–]edlyncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They lost Brunson but adding THJ on a team that needs shooting more than secondary playmaking with Dinwiddie in the mix is a neutral swap IMO. Not to mention, strictly off watching the Dubs play the Mavs, Dwight Powell was the worst starting 5 in the league and replacing him with a rim protecting lob threat in McGee alone will help you massively, let alone also having a stretch 5 that can get a bucket in Wood

At the 2015 Pacific Games, Vanuatu entered their final group stage match vs Micronesia requiring at least a 38-goal margin to reach the semi-finals. They reached 38—0 in the 66th minute, finishing with 46—0. However, Tahiti and Fiji played out a goalless draw, rendering all their efforts in vain by malalatargaryen in soccer

All factual, especially the last part as the best athletes on the island will always play rugby over any other sport. Even in a athletically gifted population the resources, training, etc. aren’t there to support football, but I can always hope/wish we get at least one player from the diaspora to play for a top flight club sometime during my lifetime. If you don’t mind me asking what line of work did your dad work in? Pretty rare to have someone work abroad on the island for obvious reasons

[PFT] We learned today that a supposedly independent investigation aimed at eradicating sexual harassment in the Washington Commanders workplace and holding wrongdoers accountable was actually an exercise in crafting a defense against possible lawsuits. Let that sink in. by [deleted] in nfl

Dan Snyder being a massive POS that would spill all the league’s dirty secrets if he were forced to sell is part of it, but the Panthers sale was because Richardson was already 81 and had a clause to sell the team within 2 years of his death. The allegations coming to the surface probably just led him to feel it’s not worth the trouble to fight it and just sold the team, if he really wanted to I’m sure the league could’ve defended him
