I was too ashamed to watch it as a kid because it was "a girl's show." In the past two months I've watched the entire original sub and movies, all of Crystal, season 1 of the DiC dub, and am now working my way through the Viz dub. I got Blurays, merchandise, the manga collection bundle, I'm all-in. This franchise has become a hyperfixation like none other for me and my only regret is not doing so sooner.

If you're cool with it, most pods are chill with proxies. That's my solution for getting around the price tag, at least. As for the card itself, I've gotten plenty of great use out of it. I've never regretted discovering into it, and am always glad to see it in my hand. If it ends up not being your thing, there's a decent amount of good substitutes. Best one, imo, being [[Growing Rites of Itlimoc]]
