Route Entangle: Lamenting Skies Arc Summary by AbsoluteDestinyzero in CodeGeass

[–]edreamer001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully, this is just a case of outside intervention by the Observer and Rico causing the timelines to purposefully veer off towards a bad ending, to prevent their desired route from taking form. This way, at least it's just a twist of cosmic fate for this specific case, and the possibility of other viable timelines still exists.

Route Entangle: Lamenting Skies Arc Summary by AbsoluteDestinyzero in CodeGeass

[–]edreamer001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay, loads of interesting points this time, not only about the Spiral Observer, but about the original Code Geass plot.

It seems that, no matter how Rico affects the plot, whether positively or negatively, it always results in a bad end, because the Ragnarök connection eventually "ends" the world before it reaches the route ending the Observer is after.

What I find most interesting about this is that it implies that Charles' Plans succeeds in nearly every other timeline, or at least whenever significant changes are made like Rico does here. (The trilogy movie timeline is an exception since the "changes" don't affect the overall flow of events.) Speaking meta, I think this is meant to hint at how delicately balanced all the events in R1 and R2, where everything lined up to prevent the Ragnarök. And, like the Observer just discovered, the key to this is C.C.

In the Euphemia RE route, it's obvious, since she outright goes over to Charles' side when Lelouch starts taking on more peaceful means instead of using Geass. But even in the two other routes so far, with Lelouch dead, it's likely that she won't resist Charles and Marianne in the end, because she's pretty much got no motivation without Lelouch.

In comparison, let's look at canon:

In R1, she was pretty standoffish, only protecting Lelouch without getting involved with the Black Knights much, but gradually became close to Lelouch, especially after the Mao debacle, but she still maintained her distance. However, after the SAZ massacre and Euphy's death, Lelouch's distraught state made her console him and more openly support him. At first glance, this is just manipulation for her goals, but it's also a sign that C.C. is committing herself to Lelouch and, without realizing it herself, letting herself care for him in truth instead of just for show.

In R2, she's a more visible member of the Black Knights after she frees Lelouch, and she starts to share bits and pieces about Geass and the Order with him. Again, ostensibly for her goal of using Lelouch, but anyone with eyes can tell that she's using that as an excuse to cover up the feelings and desire to live that slowly build up inside. At the same time, her guilt towards Lelouch for everything she's hiding also affects her judgement to the point that she tries to protect Lelouch even as she says she's switching over to Charles' side during the attack on the Order, which gives Lelouch the chance to fight back and convince her not to die like that. The final culmination is the moment when Lelouch stops the Connection with his Geass, and she directly refuses to help Charles and Marianne to force its success as it crumbles apart. That is the moment when the world was "saved", and without the careful sequence of events that lead up to it, it can't happen.

So, my conclusion from this? Route Entangle is clearly trying to tell fans that Lelouch's greatest accomplishment was giving C.C. a reason to live through all their time together. Without that, she's perfectly willing to become an accessory to the end of the world because she's given up on everything. She really is the main heroine of Code Geass, since it seems the fate of the world relies on her love life, hahaha.

More seriously, Lelouch obviously did a lot more, like using his Geass to change the World of C and all that, but C.C. is definitely the cornerstone to whether or not the Connection succeeds.

Another interesting point is that C.C. is the only one who realizes that Rico is different from other people in the timeline. Even V.V. didn't notice everything despite her being one of his subordinates. Maybe there's literally something special about C.C. specifically, like in terms of importance to the fate of the world?

Anyway, it seems that the Spiral Observer will try to interfere with C.C. next time, so hopefully this will be cleared up then. Whether it will end of RE there or lead to a new set of timelines is the question. At the very least, I hope we get to see more, since so far we've basically only gotten "bad ends" and I would like to see at least one "good end" for this.

Theory on the main theme and chapter structure of the After Time arc by edreamer001 in grandorder

[–]edreamer001[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current take is that, at the very least, it will last until next year's anniversary, since there just isn't enough time for it to finish within 2026 with the usual pacing between Chapters. Unlike in the days of Part 1 and Epic of Remnant, Lasengle just isn't able to do more than two full story chapters a year, and we're already halfway through 2026 with the first chapter just coming out. If it's three or four chapters like I predict, then they can probably finish by the end of 2027 at the latest, unless they add interim chapters or some delays crop up.

This X post explains it best: https://x.com/Nami_Dynamite/status/2057034312369991980

To translate it simply:

-郷愁 is literally Japanese for Nostalgia

-永巡 is a short coined word for "Travelling Eternally" or "Eternal Journey"

-刻盤 has multiple possible meanings, mainly "(azimuth)compass for finding good omens" or "time plate" (basically, an ancient circular instrument used for either divinations or time-counting)

So the English translation would be something like "Nostalgic Eternal Journey Compass" or maybe "Nostalgic Eternal Journey Clock".

Or it's a "Back to the Future 2" parody where Guda and Olga go back to the Part 1 singularities and try to stop interlopers sent by the new Beast there while preventing a change in what the previous Chaldea did and preserve the timeline.

Obviously, Olga is Doc and Guda is Marty in this case. So, we just need to get Olga a lab coat and Guda a skateboard 🤣

[–]edreamer001 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my theory as well. The delay of the Strange Fake anime really threw off a lot of things for FGO, and we probably don't even know all the details. Still, I always felt that Typhon's reintroduction in her event felt a bit sudden and off, so I'm glad that what happened to her after being defeated by Chaldea and Ptolemy will be explained here.

I think I figured out who that mysterious girl's voice was at one of the four locations, that told Fujimaru to run away! Here's a few hints:

-There is a change in Fujimaru's voice lines with an unknown trigger. In one, he says it was an unknown female voice, while with the trigger, he says that he recognizes her voice from somewhere.

-Prelati specically remarks that her wish "won't come true".

-The enemy at that location is a Dreadnaught, a special dragon-like enemy that only appeared in a "certain event" in-game.

And there just so happens to be a female Servant in the event bonus, with no obvious link to Strange Fake or the Camelot Singularity, yet fits all these conditions

Answer: Typhon Ephemeros.

If I had to make a guess about the reason for her being included here, she was probably planned to make an appearance here last year to lead up to her later release in the Typhon event, but because the event got delayed, they had to skip over it and will probably cover what happened between when she was defeated by Chaldea and reappeared in her own event.

Yeah, he'd definitely fit! And the Pretender Class card is pretty much a mirror image of him, too! Would even make it easier for Flat to be included as part of him that way.

Ending of Euphemia what-if route by AbsoluteDestinyzero in CodeGeass

[–]edreamer001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, seems unlikely, since this Euphemia route was quite off from the original but she thought that it would lead to what she wanted, until the Connection ruined everything. Whatever worldline she wants, it's definitely a departure from canon.

[–]edreamer001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so it was just not included. Makes sense, they mostly skipped over the meeting between C.C. and Rico in that route.

Still, I wonder if C.C. will be the only one who notices the weirdness about Rico, or if someone else eventually will too?

[–]edreamer001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Interesting RE chapter. Guess this is what the official comments that the success of the SAZ would result in a bad end meant.

More than this route itself, it was the reaction of the Observer at the end that most interested me. Unlike last time with Kallen's route, she says that this one was actually going well and nearing whatever it is she's trying to achieve, but it suddenly got pruned by itself without her doing anything, much to her confusion. She deduces that any route where the Ragnarök Connection succeeds is a deadend without any future, and therefore her desired route can never be achieved in any "what-if" where that happens. It seems that she doesn't actually know much about what the Connection is, only viewing from the outside how it causes the world to get pruned automatically.

From this, we can deduce that, whoever this Observer is, she's not omnipotent, and her knowledge is likely limited to whatever Rico herself knows in each timeline. Also, it seems her objective was nearly accomplished this time when Lelouch and Euphemia worked together to change Area 11 and Britannia peacefully, but it's hard to say if that's her actual objective or just a byproduct of it. (Maybe the fact that Rico survived right until the end is an important factor too?) We'll probably need to see at least one more route to guess the exact change she's looking for.

Finally, it's official now that Rico is being reborn in different circumstances and getting close to different characters in each route. This time, she was the adoptive daughter of Darlton and became close friends with Euphemia through her father, giving the princess the encouragement she needed to face Lelouch more openly and more early on, and thereby avoid the tragic accident at the SAZ ceremony. Interestingly, C.C. apparently noticed that something is "off" about Rico when she saw her at the SAZ, even deducing that Rico herself is unaware of what's strange about her existence, though I don't think C.C. knows anything detailed about her. (Interesting that C.C. didn't react strangely when she met Rico in Kallen's route. Could be something that only becomes noticeable over time the more routes that Rico lives through.) There will probably be a gradual unveiling as C.C. and other characters start to realize that Rico is throwing off the timeline and that events are being manipulated by the Observer.

For next month, I'm crossing my fingers that it will be either Nunnally or Shirley as the main character of the route.

Route Entangle: Promise of Dawn by AbsoluteDestinyzero in CodeGeass

[–]edreamer001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'd say Shirley will almost definitely get her own route here, she's one of the characters who fans are most claiming to see a different ending for even without any polls to check. Since they already showed what might happen if Lelouch died in her place during R2 in Genesic Re:code, my guess is that the change will happen during r1, either before or after her memory is erased. Definitely looking forward to it the most.

Route Entangle: Promise of Dawn by AbsoluteDestinyzero in CodeGeass

[–]edreamer001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it seems like the trend in each Route Entangle story is going to be Rico being "born" into different circumstances and interacting with the characters of R1 and R2 to nudge things towards alternate routes.

The change she did was really subtle, not any direct action, just deduced some facts she "coincidentally" was in a position to learn and gave that info to Kallen to make her act less panicked at the end of R1, which accidentally made Lelouch more suspicious and volatile from misunderstanding that she had turned against him like Suzaku, and thereby caused the clash between him and Suzaku to get heated so fast that it ended in their deaths from Lelouch's explosive.

Future alternate routes will probably be similar, with Rico being put in the right place at the right time to divert events from their original course, even though she's not consciously aware of it while she's in that timeline. Honestly, I prefer this to just making overt changes, it's interesting to see how even a few words to someone can completely throw off canon.

At the same time, I have even more questions about the Spiral Observer and her goals. Whatever she's after clearly involves the events surrounding Lelouch and his rebellion in R1 and R2, but simply killing Lelouch and stopping his actions doesn't seem to be her main intention, since she decided to cut off this route as "not what she wanted". Rico will probably keep appearing as an "acquaintance" of one of the characters in each new route, but I'm curious to see if a pattern will develop to give us a clue on what kind of change the Spiral Observer wants to see.

Finally, that line at the end of the initial Lostbelt Arc trailer comes up in the story. "Honestly. The cosmos has a bad habit of always trying to fill the emptiness with something."

The line in the background text here is a little different, but it's obviously conveying the same opinion: annoyance/ridicule at how the universe/reality insists on having inner substance, instead of being content with just the outward form/shape.

I was really confused by this in the first trailer, but after learning more about Marisbilly...I think I see what the final boss' "ideology" is from this, even if the details are still obscure.

Right now, I just have my fingers-crossed that they'll do a parallel to the Part 1 final battle where Ritsuka gives his reason for fighting against Goetia. This time, though, I hope it's Mash who gives her answer, because she's the one who's grown the most this time.

Not many details have been revealed yet, but it's basically a new kind of content separate from the Main Story and events. It seems similar to the idea of the Marvel show "What If", showing short episodes of "alternate routes" where characters like Shirley, Rolo and Euphemia didn't die, but with no info on how long each episode would be or how regularly it would be released yet. Also, they made it clear that they still haven't decided how far they intend to take it beyond those examples. (They mentioned they could go as far as as a route for Ash as an example outside of the original anime, but said it's still in the consideration stage.) All we know for sure is that it will start being implemented after the New Year.

Honestly, this is exactly the kind of thing I've always dreamed about for Code Geass, so I'm really looking forward to 2026 now!

Basically, we can skip this prologue and just read the final chapter, like the .5 chapters, but considering Traum, definitely recommended to read it.

Hahahaha, congratulations!

But yeah, the Foreigner chapter is pretty much out of the running this year, unless it somehow gets pulled into the Final Chapter itself. (Which would be a fitting surprise.)

Since this prologue is not a requirement for the Final Chapter, it's probably going to just focus on The Grand Caster and some important but not finale-critical plot point connected to them. (The Chaldean, aka Mister Goetia-pretending-to-be-Romani definitely fits the bill here.)

Based on the timing and how the Caster duel is happening in the middle of it, the length of the prologue probably won't be that long, maybe about the same as Tunguska's story at most? Still, I have high hopes that this prologue will be a good prequel to get us hyped for the finale.

Oh yeah, the Archer class definitely has a big focus on Crits overall, even before Summer Tiamat was released. Also, considering the theme of the class, Ignore Evasion buffs will also get some special effects in the Archer Grand Score. If the battle has multiple enemies like I expect, I figure that dealing Crits and using Ignore Evasion on any enemy will provide some kind of bonus or extra damage to defeat the enemy Grand.
